Betfair is a game provider that has all kinds of games. Not only do they offer a casino, which also features a live casino, they also offer poker, bingo, and a sportsbook. They are best known for their sportsbook, and this is the game category that draws the most players to Betfair. The welcome bonuses they offer also lure quite a few players to this game operator. Since the different categories of games are operated more or less independently of each other, you can claim a bonus for several of the categories!

Table of Contents

Game Selection

Casino, Live Casino, Arcade, Sportsbook, Poker & Bingo

As soon as you enter the Betfair website, you’ll see all the different types of games they offer in the main menu located at the top of the page. Here you simply choose if you want to have a closer look at their Sportsbook, Casino, Live Casino, Poker, Exchange Games, Arcade, Bingo, Pools Betting or Virtual Sports. Once you’ve picked a category, you’ll see a new sub-menu that allows you to further narrow down the games so you can find the one you want to play.

Slots and table games

If you’re looking for the typical casino games, meaning slots and table games, there are two categories you should focus on. You’ll find these games in both the Betfair Casino and the Betfair Arcade. It’s the Arcade that features most of the player favorites. Here you’ll find casino games from NetEnt, Big Time Gaming, Play’n GO and SG Digital, to name a few. The Casino category mostly offers games from Playtech.

The selection of slots and table games isn't the greatest we’ve seen, and this confirms our first impression that this isn’t a category Betfair has chosen to focus a lot of attention on. In the Betfair Casino, you’ll find less than 200 games in total, while the Arcade has a bit more than  300 different slots and other digital games to offer. There are also quite a few game providers we’re missing since both Quickspin and Yggdrasil have been left out of the mix.

The upside is that we do find games from Playtech, which we’re thankful for. This means you get to try all the Age of the Gods games, which are very popular among players, especially since they offer a big pooled jackpot.

Jackpots at Betfair

Like the normal slots on this site, the jackpot games can be found in both the Casino and the Arcade categories. In the Casino, it’s the Age of the Gods games that caught our eye the most because Betfair has a whole selection consisting of 13 games that feature pooled progressive jackpots. This means you can play for the jackpot regardless of whether you prefer to play a normal video slot or a roulette game. Just have a look at the ribbon on every jackpot game to see the size of the game’s biggest jackpot.

In Betfair Arcade, only some of the jackpot slots have been given a ribbon to mark the jackpot size, so if you want to know how much you’re playing to win in the other games, you’ll have to start the game to see for yourself. Another thing you might find a bit disappointing here is that none of the big global progressive jackpots are available. However, you might still find games with jackpots as big as 1 million euros. The best jackpot games in the Arcade are perhaps the daily jackpots, which you’ll find in the games from Red Tiger Gaming, now owned by NetEnt. In these games, the jackpot is guaranteed to drop every single day, which means your chances of becoming a jackpot winner are greater than they are in any other game.

Live Casino games

The Betfair Live Casino is powered by Playtech. The games you’ll find at most of the tables are different versions of roulette and blackjack, but other games are also present. Baccarat, Hold’em Poker, Hi-Lo, and the wheel of fortune Spin A Win are the “other” live casino games. Most of these games offer a wide selection of bet limits, which makes it possible for all types of players to find tables to suit their bankrolls and strategies.

A quite nice feature you’ll find here is that Betfair offers guides for most of the games, so new players can learn all there is to know about the games before they start gambling. If you want to learn while actually playing, we can recommend that you try the games in demo mode first, and you can do this on the table game machines that you find in the Casino and the Arcade.

Sportsbook and betting

Betting is what Betfair is really all about. They offer odds in at least 30 different categories of sports and other events, and the most popular ones are American Football, Boxing, Football (Soccer), Tennis and Cycling. In addition, they also have odds for Current Affairs, Politics, Esports, Horse Racing and most other types of sports. In the top left corner of the main sportsbook menu, you can expand the menu to show all of the sports available. On the opposite side of the menu, you’ll find your betslip.

The default odds format at Betfair is decimals, but if you prefer to see the odds displayed as fractions instead, you can change this by scrolling all the way down the page. Just above the footer, you can see the options you have for viewing the odds.

When you want to bet on odds in the Betfair Sportsbook, once you’ve found the match or the event you want, you simply click the outcome you want to bet on. Your selection will then be added to your betslip. If you choose to bet on more than one outcome or match, you get to choose if you want to make single bets or if you want to bet on multiples. Once you’re happy with the slip, you need to confirm the choices you’ve made before you can place your bets.

Another, unusual, part of the sportsbook is the Exchange. Here you can set your own odds on whatever outcome of whatever event you’d like to bet on. You register what you want to play on and the odds you’d like, and then you wait to see if another player will accept it or not. Betfair is not involved with the odds, but since they’re facilitating the bets and payouts, they take a 5% commission.

Live odds

The Betfair In-Play option is one of the most popular categories. Here you’ll find all of the live games that there are odds for in the Betfair Sportsbook. You’ll find a complete list of all the ongoing matches, as well as a list of all of the upcoming events. Not all of the sports have odds for live games, but all the most popular ones are usually represented.

The way you play and place your bets is the same as when you’re playing pre-match, but you’ll have to be a bit quicker. The odds change throughout the match, and you have to get your bet placed before they change. Also, keep in mind that who wins isn’t the only thing you can bet on. Who scores the first or second goal, whether both teams will score, and whether there will be any goals at all, are just some of the outcomes you can bet on if you choose to bet on soccer, for example.

Betfair Poker

Betfair is quite big on poker. They have a big player base compared to many other online poker operators, and this ensures that the tournaments they offer have big prize pools and that you’ll always find plenty of tables to play at. The software used for Betfair Poker was developed by Playtech, and you can easily download it to your desktop or mobile.

With the Playtech poker platform, you can be sure that there are always plenty of players to play against, and this is true whether you’re a professional poker player or a novice. There are table bet limits and buy-ins suited to all types of players and all types of bankrolls.

Bingo

Playtech is also the platform used for Betfair Bingo. In the overview of the different bingo rooms they have, you can always see which type of bingo is played — 70-ball, 90-ball or Specials — and you can also see the price per bingo ticket. The prizes and the jackpot are also displayed, along with the number of players in the room. There are new games starting almost every single minute, so you never have to wait long to see the numbers being ticked off on your bingo ticket.

Betfair Sports Betting

Betfair welcome offer

There are welcome offers for some, but not all, of the game categories at Betfair. Even if you start off playing in a category that doesn’t offer a welcome bonus, you can’t necessarily claim a new player bonus in a different category. The reason for this? What you deposit wouldn’t always count as a first deposit. However, it might if the two categories are operated by independent game operators, which is true for several of them. Checking the eligibility rules for the bonus terms is therefore always a must. The best Betfair bonus offers are these:

Casino bonus
New players at Betfair qualify for 50 free spins. To claim the deal you must use the promo code CASF51 and the winnings are paid in cash. You also must verify your phone number as well as deposit and wager £10 on Daily Jackpot Games.

Sportsbook bonus
There are no new player bonuses to claim for Betfair Sportsbook, but there are always plenty of promotions available for both new and existing players.

Poker bonus
As a new player, you’ll get to claim a bonus of 200% up to €200 and €500 in Freeroll tickets. To qualify, you must deposit at least €10, but also download the Poker Software and create a nickname.

Bingo bonus
Bet £10 at Betfair Bingo to get 200 free tickets and a £20 Slingo bonus.

Also, note that the bonus offers listed above might not be available for players in your country, so always check the bonus offers to see if you are eligible before making your deposit.

Bonus terms and wagering requirement

All of the different bonuses have different terms at Betfair, so you need to check this before you partake in a bonus. However, in general, we can say that the terms are pretty good from a player perspective. For instance, there are no wagering requirements for the casino free spins. You have 7 days to use your spins and then the winnings are added to your balance. That's it and it's pretty cool. The only requirements are to sign up, verify your phone number, deposit and bet the minimum of £10 on Daily Jackpot Games, and claim the spins.

Another thing you’ll need to check in the bonus terms at Betfair are which, if any, payment methods are excluded from triggering a bonus. Most of the time, the e-wallets Skrill and Neteller can’t be used for claiming bonuses, especially if it’s a new player bonus you want to activate.

Promotions and bonuses

There are always plenty of promotions and offers for existing players at Betfair. In fact, they seem to focus more on rewarding their existing players than they do on attracting new ones, at least in terms of bonuses. What is a bit unfortunate is that there’s nowhere where you can see a full overview of all of the different offers at Betfair — you’ll have to go to each and every game category to see what’s available. In some of the categories, they may have ads of some sort for the other types of games and the offers you can get for playing them.

Typically, you won’t need a Betfair bonus code to claim a bonus, but you might have to opt-in to the bonus before you deposit into your account.

BetFair Casino Bonuses Promotions

Usability

Unfortunately, the usability at Betfair is quite poor. When you enter the website for the first time, you might not notice this because it actually looks well structured. The main menu is easy to see, and it’s quite clear how you should navigate it. However, as soon as you actually start using the different areas of the site, it gets worse. The fact that some categories seem to be connected while others are a little more like small satellite categories makes it a bit confusing.

For instance, in the Casino category, you have the option of seeing all of the promotions for all of the categories, or at least so it seems. If you actually click to see the promotions for another category, you may, in some cases, just see this information displayed on the page you’re already on, while for other promotions you may be redirected to the promotion page for that category.

Another thing that might bother players who prefer to use Betfair in languages other than English is the fact that some of the game categories are translated into several different languages, while other categories are not available in as many languages, and in some cases, they’re only available in English. The games are, in most cases, available for all players, but not always.

Mobile Casino

The Betfair mobile casino isn’t much better than the website for desktop, which is not that surprising since the same site is used for both. Instead of using the betfair.com website, you can also opt for downloading the Betfair app. This will, first and foremost, make it easier to enter the casino, or whichever game category you choose, but the overall usability is pretty much the same.

Betfair Mobile App Betting

Betfair Help and Support

When you’re in need of assistance, you’ll always find the help center at the top left corner of the website. Here you’ll find both an FAQ and options for contacting customer support. Live chat is usually the best option, but you can also send an email or get in touch via Twitter or Facebook. The telephone lines are more or less only available for players who want to place bets over the phone.

These are the main categories in the Betfair FAQ:

  • All Topics
  • Verifying Your Account
  • Login/Registration Help
  • Depositing and Withdrawing
  • Player Protection
  • Sports Help
  • Games Help
  • Sports Promotions
  • Help With Something Else

In the help center, you can also find a separate tab for all the terms and conditions, and other rules for using the website and its features and services.

Deposits and Withdrawals

PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Visa and MasterCard are the most popular methods for making deposits at Betfair but depending on the country you registered your account from, you might also have more options. Depositing and withdrawing with PayPal is also something that isn’t possible for all players because there are some restrictions on the countries in which Betfair can offer this payment option. Once you’ve created your account and logged in, you’ll be able to see all of the payment methods accepted for your country.

Withdrawal options are connected to the deposit methods you’ve chosen. If you’ve used an e-wallet or a Visa card for your winning deposit, you’ll always have to withdraw using the same method, but if you’ve used another method, you might be able to withdraw your winnings straight back to your bank account, with the help of a wire transfer. Just note that this will be an international transfer, which means you’ll have to enter your IBAN and BIC/Swift code.

Verifying your Betfair account

The verification process is the same as it is at almost any other online casino. You verify who you are and where you live by submitting a copy of your ID and a document confirming your address. If you’re also asked to verify the ownership of any payment methods you’ve used, this is done by taking a photo of your card, sending a picture or pdf of your bank statement, or by providing a screenshot of your account details while logged into your e-wallet.

Betfair Security Responsible Gambling

Security and Licensing

The main gambling license Betfair uses is the one from the Malta Gaming Authority. This is a secure license that will protect players in unregulated gambling markets. If you reside in a regulated market, there’ll be local licenses to protect you, such as the one from the UK Gambling Commission. In the footer of each page on the Betfair website, you can see which license applies to you.

Secure website encryption is also used, and all communications, including payments, are protected. Your activity on the site will never be made public, and only the staff at Betfair who need to see your account information will have access to anything you’ve shared with them. This means customer support when you contact them for assistance and the payment department when they’re processing your withdrawals and KYC verification can see your information, since they need it in order to do their jobs.

Conclusion of Betfair review

There’s no doubt that the best part of Betfair is their sportsbook. Not only do they offer a good selection of odds, which match the best odds of bookmakers in the industry, but they also offer exchange odds, which is not that common. The poker section is also good since Playtech’s platform ensures a high volume of players, tournaments and prize pools. The disappointing part of the game selection at Betfair is the casino and the arcade. Compared to other online casinos, these are not even close to the type of selection we’re used to.

What bothers us the most about Betfair is usability. With the separation of some game categories, the site is simply a bit hard to navigate, and this also affects our view of the bonuses they offer. The bonuses themselves might be good, but since the rules for each of the bonuses varies widely, this means all of the terms have to read in full for every new bonus you want to partake in.

Overall, we can recommend Betfair to players who want to bet on odds, play poker and also possibly bingo, whereas players who only want to play casino games are better off choosing another game operator.

Casino - FAQs

  • Yes, you can try most of the games at Betfair for free. Some players will be able to do this without logging in to the website, while others will have to log in and verify their age before they are able to do so. This is dependent on the country you’re playing from and the rules from the applicable gambling authority.

  • Which payment options you’ll have available to choose from at Betfair is dependent on the country you register your account from. Most players will be able to at least use card payments, bank transfers and e-wallets, but to see the complete list of your options you’ll have to log in to your account and check the cashier’s page.

  • Some bonuses offered at Betfair might require you to use a bonus code in order to claim it, but not all. So always check the bonus terms before you make your deposit so you can be sure you’re not missing out on the offer.

  • Yes, Betfair does have a gambling license, but which one you will be playing under, and if this is considered a valid license, depends on your country of residence. When you go to their website you should scroll down to the bottom of the site, and there you’ll see the license information from players in your country.

  • No, it’s not possible to make deposits or withdrawals using cryptocurrencies at Betfair. You’ll only be able to use fiat currencies, and you can find a complete list of all available payment methods on the cashier’s page of the casino.

I started my experience with poker and video slots. The game selection is modest enough, so I thought I could vary the game up by going for the casino welcome bonus. I won some free spins but I'm definitely not looking forward to wagering my winnings 45 times before I can withdraw it. Out of all the support options I found, the live chat is the fastest, giving me actual answers instead of links.
The game library in total isn't the best thing I've been witnessed. The wagering requirement is a bit higher than I’d like. Navigation is simple enough, but the website isn't the most organized. I'm also not a fan of the KYC policies since they're too time-consuming.

I've played plenty of video slots as well as live casino games like roulette and blackjack. I found a variety of bonuses that award free spins and bonus cash. I recommend the live chat option if you want quick answers. Bingo allows me to shake up the experience by introducing more variety.
KYC policies take too much time, which later forces me to bet most of the funds I want to withdraw. The casino isn't the most-optimized for mobile devices. I don't see myself successfully wagering the casino bonus winnings since I have to do that 45 times. I would have loved to see an option for depositing cryptocurrency.
