Play instantly without downloads

By choosing a casino where you can play directly from your web browser, you can play all the new casino games from virtually any device. The experience you’ll have will be more or less the same, whether you’re using a stationary computer, laptop, tablet or mobile phone. The only thing you need is an active, and preferably stable, internet connection and a web browser. It doesn’t matter much which browser you choose to use either since most casino websites work without a glitch when you’re playing casino games.

Instant play is usually available for all slots and live table games. The slots load in the browser, and your internet connection would have to be fairly bad for them to not work optimally. But for example, if you want to play blackjack online then in some situations it might be difficult because live table games are something you stream, and this may require a more stable connection, but in the event that your connection is a bit slow or spotty, you’ll most often have the option of lowering the resolution so you can still play, although the images may be a bit blurrier. This is a feature provided by the game developers, and not all of them offer this for slower connections. The selection in a sportsbook will always be the same, no matter what device you’re using, but in-play betting could get a bit tricky without a fast internet connection.

Games that don’t work without downloading

There aren’t any games that never work for instant play, but there are some game categories that show up more often than others on the list of games that can’t be played without downloading some software. The most common is poker, and this usually includes poker games that are played against other players. There are a variety of different software applications available from different game providers for poker, and some of these providers have yet to offer these tables as instant play games. However, more and more of them are now offering a choice between downloading the casino’s poker client and playing from your browser.

As with poker clients, there are other games that you may have to download software to play, and this is the case for game categories like bingo and keno. What’s important to note is that this isn’t something the casino has any choice over since it’s the game provider that has to provide this feature. For example, one of the most popular poker clients is one from Microgaming that now supports instant play. This was added as late as 2018, so it’s fairly new. All online casinos that use this poker client can therefore offer instant poker games you can play from your browser. If a game uses another poker client that doesn’t support instant play, the casino can’t simply add this feature until the game provider chooses to make it available.

Play on the go from a mobile casino

Not that many years ago, you needed to download an app to be able to use a mobile casino. This significantly limited the number of casinos you had to choose from since it was, for the most part, only the big online casinos that took the time and trouble to develop apps. Luckily, those days are gone, and thanks to HTML5, there’s no longer any need to install an app to enjoy casino games on your phone, even when you’re out and about. More and more of the world’s mobile users now own smartphones, and there are more people with Androids than there are people who own computers, so it is no wonder that the lion’s share of all online gambling is done from mobile devices.

Unless you’re choosing a casino that hasn’t updated their website in the last 5 years (which is almost unheard of), you’ll have no trouble playing from your mobile or tablet without an app. The only known issue at the moment — and this should be fixed very soon — is that some slots from the game provider Microgaming may not work optimally if you’re using a Safari browser, which is the default browser for iPhone, iPad and other Apple devices. It’s not a significant issue, but it is something you may want to keep in mind. Using a different browser is the easiest fix for this.
