While most Football fans show their support to their team in various ways, from buying a season ticket, to sporting the latest official season's kit or cheering on their team on match day, there are some fans who have taken their loyalty a step further, by getting their team tattooed onto them.
Football tattoos are becoming increasingly popular, especially amongst some of the most diehard fans, and we wanted to find out which teams across the world are the most popular for their fans to get them inked onto their skin.

The Juventus fans take the crown as the most diehard fans, with 4,881 Instagram posts of Juventus tattoos. The Italian team is followed by Argentina’s Club Atlético River Plate which has 2,076 posts.

Looking at the top 25 teams in the world and working out which countries they are in, we can see on social media where the most dedicated of inked fans are by collating a total number of posts for every team within those countries.

We know which teams are most popular for fan tattoos, but what about the players themselves? FC Barcelona’s captain, Lionel Messi takes the top spot with 2,193 posts, where fans have had this football legend tattooed onto their skin, followed by Paris Saint-Germain forward, Neymar with 1,690. The third with 1,530 is former Argentinian footballing icon, Diego Maradona who sadly passed away in December 2020, he was regarded as one of the best players in the world.

As the UK has some of the most dedicated football fans in the world, we wanted to see which of their teams have the most loyal supporters.
Using a number of online lists, we created a list of some of the biggest football teams in the world. These came from the following sources:
