The theme is the only prominent difference between the Devil Joker and the quoted games. This time, players meet a damsel dressed in devilish attire and holding a trident standing next to the reels.

The backdrop looks set inside a party house, with flickering blue and purple lights. The sounds include an upbeat pop melody and thematic effects linked to the spinning reels. 

The reels follow a 6x5 matrix that uses a scatter pays technique. The game should be easy to navigate since the controls are visibly clear below the reels and on the left-hand side.

Symbols and Payouts

A slot based on the Joker means its theme will be based on fruits, food, and classic symbols. If you want proof, just load this game’s paytable and check it out yourself.

Symbols pay anywhere on the reels whenever at least eight of a kind appear simultaneously. The total number of identical symbols in view at the end of a spin will determine the win’s value based on the currently staked bet.

Tumble Feature

All winning symbols will disappear after winning combinations are paid. Then, the rest of the symbols drop to the screen’s bottom while symbols from above replace the empty positions. The cascades progress until no more winning combos appear due to the tumbles.

Multiplier Symbols

The multiplier symbols are the Green, Blue, Red, and Pink Gems. They can appear randomly during spins and tumbles in both the base game and free spins.

Whenever a multiplier symbol lands in Devil Joker, it takes a random value between 2x and 500x. All the multiplier symbol values on-screen are added when the tumble sequence ends, multiplying the sequence’s total win.

Free Spins

This feature starts when 4 or more scatters hit anywhere on-screen, starting with 15 free spins. The multiplier value will be added to the total multiplier whenever a multiplier symbol hits during the free spins, and the spin leads to a win.

If any new multiplier symbol lands for the entire round and results in a payout to multiply the win the total multiplier will also be used. Aim for 3+ scatters to land during the free spins round because they’ll retrigger +5 additional spins.  

Ante Bet & Buy Feature

Every player can select the 25x bet multiplier for the ante bet or leave it as 20x for regular play. Activating the ante bet doubles the chances of triggering the free spins naturally. Having reviewed many Pragmatic Play slots derived from the Gates of Olympus, I wonder what to make of this ‘new’ release.

The only fresh trait of this game is its theme, which is based on classic-style visuals and some bits of fruits and food. Both the visuals and audio are nicely done.

Mechanically, Devil Joker is all about tumbles, multiplier symbols, and a free spins round, with an option to boost the chances of triggering the bonus naturally or buying it. In essence, there’s nothing new. Even the max win is an expected 5,000x bet.

My ultimate conclusion is that most slot enthusiasts will either loathe it or the first-timers may love it. Or vice versa. As for me, I’d only consider playing it for real money if I wanted something different from ancient Greek mythology.
