Merkur’s logo is a smiling little sun, but there is nothing bright and cheery about the design of the Dragon and Knights slot. The title sticks with all of the usual visuals you would expect to find in a dragon and fantasy-themed slot. The reels sit on a castle’s walls at night, with the night sky in the background adding a faint tint of light and creating an eerie atmosphere.
The gameplay is nowhere near as frightening though. It is straightforward and user-friendly. Players can spin five reels, each with three rows, with 20 fixed paylines on every spin.
The slot can be played on several devices, including mobiles. There is a maximum bet of €40. This is a fairly middle-of-the-road betting range that is not likely to satisfy either low-stakes players or high-roller players. The game also comes with the standard autospin and turbo play features. The latter of these may not be available in all locations.
There are plenty of big wins available for players in the slot and we are going to break them down in this part of the Dragon and Knights slot review. The slot pays out all of its as multiples of your total stake.
The highest paying symbol in the game is the castle symbol. This pays out 50x your total stake for combos of five, 12.5x for four, and 1.25x for three. Next up is the throne which pays 25x for five, a candle, and then a mace and chain are next, paying 15x and 12.5x for the same number of symbols.
The lower-paying symbols in the game are the standard royals. The Ace and the King are the highest, paying out 5x. The Queen, Jack, and 10 are the least valuable in the game, they pay 2.5x for five, 1x for four, and 0.25x for three.
All of the Dragon and Knights bonus games are built around the game’s two wild symbols. The wild symbols are the titular dragon and knight. As well as doing as all wilds do and substituting for other symbols to form winning combos, these two also contribute towards triggering the bonus game.
Whenever a wild lands on reels 1 or 5, it will add to either the bonus spins meter or the multiplier meter. These are on either side of the reels. The bonus spins start at 5, then go up to 8, 12, 16, and 20. The multipliers are 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, and 5x.
Once one of these meters has filled up, you will launch the Dragon and Knights bonus spins round, and the other one will be added to the round. For example, you could fill the bonus spins meter with the multiplier at 3x, so you would get 20 spins with a 3x multiplier. There is also a special shield symbol that can appear on reel three during the game. These rewards players with an additional bonus spin.
There was no Dragon and Knights RTP or volatility information available. During our test of the game for this Dragon and Knights slot review, we found that the game was very engaging and that it offered some good returns. The bonus spins and multipliers meters felt fresher than the standard scatter symbol approach - it also adds an extra element of engagement to the slot.
