You’ll be helping an old miner dig deep into fossils, minerals, and precious jewels, breaking the most resilient rocks with high-powered drills and loading the riches into carts. If you’re lucky, you may receive dynamite shipment to enter the Bonus Round. 

The hauling line is fully automated, so you’ll have to be lucky to strike crystals when they’re around to get instant prizes. Smaller chunks of debris, fossils, and jewelry can be moved by hand, and these “basic wins” should help cover the machinery’s upkeep. 

Symbols & Payouts

The mines in Glow Dig are filled with four types of fossils as minor symbols and four types of Crystals as major symbols. Horned, Dinosaur, Fish, and Armored Fossils have the same values while Crystals vary in power from Blue to Red:

• Fossils: 0.20x for three-of-a-kind, 0.50x for four, 2x for five;
• Blue Crystal: 1x for three-of-a-kind, 3x for four, 10x for five;
• Yellow Crystal: 2x for three-of-a-kind, 8x for four, 20x for five;
• Red Crystal: 3x for three-of-a-kind, 10x for four, 25x for five. 

Although the pay rates for these symbols are quite good, I must emphasize that the game doesn’t feature any kind of Wild symbols. Instant prizes help keep things fair, and I love that collectors are isolated from the playing field. 

One of the best features of Glow Dig is its astoundingly stretched-out betting range, which spans from €0.10 to €2,000. Up to 5,000x of your bet can be won in the bonus round, meaning that you can bag up to €10 million on the highest bet settings. 

Glow Dig Bonus Features

The main reason why I dubbed Glow Dig a “beginner-friendly” slot is that it has only two bonus features, including collectible instant prizes and the Bonus Round. 

Now, these features have several smaller mini-features to make the game feel fresh and unique, so I’ll briefly explain how they work in the following sections. 

Carts, Drills, and Prize Collectors 

The playing area in Glow Dig features 5 reels and 4 rows plus an extra row on top where only carts and drills may appear. Instant prizes can be featured as overlays on any major symbol (Crystal), rocking multipliers from 1x to 250x. 

When you boot the game, you’ll realize that carts are always present. However, carts as an “active feature” will appear loaded with crystals, which only visually sets them apart from defunct carts. These symbols will collect instant prizes from the reels they appeared in. Drills are global collectors, pricking up prizes from the entire grid. 

Bonus Round

Dynamites are Scatters in the Glow Dig slot. Instead of blowing up half of the playing field, these convenient items clear blockages in the cart track and make the game run smoothly. 

The Bonus Game begins when at least 3 Dynamites are collected in a single spin. All Carts and Drills will become “floating” symbols, moving one cell from left to right wherever they appear until they leave the playing field. 

There’s no limit to how many free spins you’ll receive in this round, as it will continue as long as at least one cart or drill is present in the bonus track.

How to Win at Glow Dig

Glow Dig features 30 fixed paylines, and symbols of the same kind pay in combinations of three or more on adjacent reels. While testing this game, I scored bigger wins from instant prizes than regular wins, especially during bonus rounds. 

Glow Dig RTP & Volatility

The random appearances of instant prizes on top of the randomness of carts and drills while Wild symbols aren’t included paint a good picture of why Glow Dig is marketed as a high-volatility slot. 

According to Max Win Gaming, this game boasts an impressive 96% RTP score. Since Carts and Drills won’t stand between your winning combinations, wins are a bit more consistent compared to similar games. 

Final Verdict

Most slots with instant prizes are a bit too focused on money-collecting features to the point that the base game almost feels like an ancillary system. Glow Dig is a bit different since prizes are built into major symbols, and their collectors are featured on an isolated reel, bringing the best of the two worlds together. 

For this concept alone I can highly recommend Max Win Gaming’s Glow Dig slot, but there are a few other features I liked, such as the huge betting range, good hit frequency, and two purchasable bonuses. 

What I didn’t like is that there are no Wilds or jackpots. Furthermore, you’ll need a cart on a reel with at least one instant prize to grab a win, which can be difficult at times due to the sheer randomness of these features.
