Symbols and Payouts

This video slot is another addition to the cluster-pays group of slots, which should be familiar to most iGaming enthusiasts. The paytable highlights low and high-paying symbols made from gems and owls, respectively. There are eight regular symbols in total.

The game rules and paytable highlight everything about the winning symbol clusters and their payouts. So, do your due diligence to keep up with your wins, which equal the paytable values multiplied by the total bet!

Surprisingly, Pirots X adopts mummified Owls instead of parrots for its premium category. They include the Blue, Green, Purple, and Red Owls that pay 0.3-15x, 0.4-20x, 0.5-25x, and 1-50x the bet, respectively.

As mentioned, the low-valued symbols are the Gems of corresponding colours, like their high-paying counterparts. They are worth 0.1-4x, 0.15-6x, 0.2-8x, and 0.25-10x stake, respectively.

Although this instalment skips away from the CollectR engine, it still has several exciting features and a 10,000x stake!

Symbol Drops

All cluster wins in the current symbol drop are collected, and then all the icons in the paying clusters explode. The remaining symbols drop to a bottom resting position, and new symbols fall to fill the empty spaces. This feature continues as long as new paying sequences happen.

To clarify, the empty positions below big symbols in Pirots X are filled with 1x1 identical symbols as the big one to reach a stable horizontal resting place.

Wild Symbols

The wild substitutes for all the regular symbols, improving or completing the paying clusters. Every winning cluster generates a wild in one of the empty spaces created after the explosion.

Several wilds in a paying cluster will merge and form a multiplier wild. The generated multiplier equals the sum of the merged wild symbols’ multipliers, and every regular wild counts as having a 1x multiplier. 

The multiplier wilds contributing to the winning blocks boost the payout before the global multiplier. The global multiplier applies to all winning clusters and remains active throughout the game round.      

Pirots

Each new drop has 4 Pirots above the gameboard, and they randomly trigger different features:

• Bomb - A bomb is released onto the reels, which explodes and removes all the regular icons close to it, triggering a redrop that fills empty positions. The explosion also expands the grid to 7 rows and 7 columns. The small parakeet Charlie may randomly activate the bomb at the end of the Pirots X game round.
• Feature Release - It’s randomly triggered at the start of an initial drop or free drop by one of the Pirots opening a chest. It replaces several low-paying 1x1 symbols with random feature symbols.
• Big Drop - starts when one of the birds randomly presses a red button. A big symbol of a random size of the same colour as the bird or wild drops, crashing 1x1 symbols on its way down. However, it doesn’t affect the symbols of its type and feature symbols.

The nest symbol lands on the grid in any drop or through the feature release. Further, the birds fly down and settle on a random nest symbol after a drop or a symbol refill. However, they activate and start collecting symbols only after the evaluation of the win. All the nests are filled.           

The birds can collect identical symbols from the grid, increasing the global multiplier. Meanwhile, the low and high-priced symbols increase the global multiplier by +1 and +2, respectively. However, the birds can’t collect any wilds or feature symbols.

Then, the bird leaves after collecting at least one symbol or if it’s scared by an exploding bomb. If a crushing big symbol or exploding bomb destroys a bird or the bird doesn’t collect any symbols and drops out, it will reappear at the top of the grid in the next drop.

Bonus & Super Bonus

Manage 3 bonus symbols anywhere in Pirots X during the normal mode to trigger the bonus with 5 free drops. The global multiplier persists between free drops, and landing the free drop symbols awards more bonus drops.

Meanwhile, 1 super bonus symbol and 2 bonus symbols activate the super bonus game. It uses the maximum grid size with a guaranteed feature release per free drop. All the bonuses end when no free drops remain, or you reach the max win.

X-iter (Bonus Buy)

This feature allows players to buy into different game modes, including the super bonus and bonus. Depending on the feature, their prices can range from 3x to 500x the bet.

How to Win at Pirots X Slot

This video slot starts with 5 reels and 5 rows with dropping symbols and cluster wins. However, it can expand to 7 columns and 7 rows during the bomb feature.

A winning cluster consists of 5 or more identical symbols that are vertically or horizontally connected. Only the largest cluster of the connected identical symbols will pay out. As explained above, wins are based on the selected stake, and Pirots X could award up to 10,000x bet!

Pick a bet between the minimum and maximum €0.20 to €100 levels. Then, hit the Spin button to trigger a single symbol drop or use the Autoplay to trigger several drops automatically.

The 10,000x bet max win is decent for this highly volatile slot. However, its theoretical RTP of 94% is below the industry’s average.

My Concluding Thoughts

I’m sure almost everyone who experienced the prequels with the CollectR mechanic is questioning whether ELK Studios hit or missed by eliminating it in this new instalment. Well, it was neither of both.    

First, it’s not like the cluster ways engine that runs Pirots X is a bummer. Plus, it works almost similarly to the CollectR engine, considering both deal with horizontally or vertically connected identical symbols. However, I think the cluster engine is more straightforward and should be easy to understand for all types of players.

Further, the equally exciting features make this creation such a huge attraction. Plus, the fact it can award some magnificent wins of up to 10,000x bet boosts the attraction. But I must caution you of its high volatility and low RTP.

In summary, it’s a solid production that maintains the developer’s longstanding legacy. Hopefully, another instalment with an even better experience will come out!
