Despite the unique gameplay found in the Retro Riches video slot, you will still have to press a play button (a purple cursor) to start playing. Of course, every player can change the size of the bet before each turn. There is a minimum bet of €0.20 available to all users. On the other hand, the maximum bet is €200, which is ideal for the high rollers.
If you want to accelerate the turns, you can use the speedometer located above the play sign. There’s also a tiny icon that features two pointers that act as an auto-play button. Every user can activate between 10 and 100 of these spins. They can also set a loss limit, a win limit, and a few other things while the auto-spins are active. Click on the + sign to reveal a few other options. You can use this sign to turn the sound effects on or off or activate or deactivate the music. Additionally, using the info sign will reveal all the symbols and payouts.
This is probably the most important thing in the Retro Riches slot review we’ve prepared for you. That’s natural because this slot works differently. It uses a so-called MegaPixel Pays evaluation. So, there’s a grid that features 2400 dots. With every spin, you will see randomly placed symbols on specific positions on the matrix that may overlap parts of the grid. They appear in the form of purple, light blue, or grey symbols (except for the Diamonds and Stars).
After each spin, the dots overlapped by the basic symbols will upgrade two, three, or four levels. The maximum is level seven. Upgraded dots come in different colors. To get paid, you need dots overlapped by a paying symbol. This is how you will earn points (from 1 point for level 3 dots to 100 points for level 7 dots). Keep in mind that the total amount that you can expect from each symbol matches the sum of all points from dots overlapped by that specific symbol divided by one hundred, rounded down, and multiplied by the bet multiplier after that.
There are 30 basic symbols in this game. They all look like retro neon-like icons. For instance, there’s a Bell that overlaps up to 586 dots and comes with a 25x point multiplier. The Sword can overlap up to 75 dots and comes with a 3x point multiplier. Don’t forget that not all symbols are available from the start. You need to fill the Spincrease meter a certain number of times to unlock some of the icons.
The way this game works is a bonus feature itself. Yet, there are other Retro Riches bonus features. For starters, let’s mention the Spin-Crease feature. By collecting Diamonds, the Spin-Crease feature will improve the game. Each Diamond overlapping the grid of dots is gathered and provides 10 Spin-Crease points times the bet multiplier. Once the Spin-Crease meter is filled, an additional symbol is unlocked. You will need 12500000 total Spin-Crease points to unlock all symbols.
Besides these unusual mechanics, there’s a round of Retro Riches free spins too. Whenever you hit three or more Scatter icons (Stars), and they fully overlap the grid of dots, you will win free spins. Three, four, or five Stars will activate 12, 16, and 20 free spins, respectively. We should point out that this round starts with all dots at level 1.
Keep in mind that the theoretical payout of this game is not fixed. The initial Retro Riches RTP is 92.6%, but this percentage goes up to 97% as additional symbols are unlocked. There is no information about the volatility here.
