The game opens on an intro scene against the night sky. You’re asked to choose your bet before seeing the reels, but it’s easily adjusted. You can also mute the game music (and spooky laughter) or check out a brief guide. The bet options range from €0.08 to €80 per spin. This range is suitable for a wide range of players. Whether you’re brand new to slots or a veteran looking for more risk, this video slot should suit you.
The panel has three rows and three reels, just like some classic games. There are eight fixed paylines. You’ll notice a booklet to the side of the reels, but we discuss that in more detail below. There are a couple of ways to optimize your gameplay. Turbospin is available for faster animation. Autoplay can be set from 10 to 1000 spins at a time or set to run infinitely.
The prizes for normal symbols are paid out on paylines when you match three of a kind. These values, located in the paytable, conveniently adjust to your current bet. All win multipliers are applied to your total stake per spin. The normal symbols are each hand-carved wooden trinkets with weathered paint. With prizes multiplied by your total bet, these include: an X for 1x, cherries for 1x, a lemon for 1.5x, grapes for 1.5x, blueberries for 2.5x, BAR for 3x, a star for 5x, and last, a “7” for 6.25x.
There are three special symbols as well. First is the wild joker, which substitutes for all icons mentioned above. The second is the scatter, which looks like a compass. The scatter only appears in the centermost position of the game panel, and it only triggers the bonus feature. Finally, there is a quick hit symbol, which looks like a gold coin with a skull carving. These coins can land in any position and pay if there are three or more. These prizes can be tracked on the booklet to the left of the reels. The highest prize in the game is awarded when you land nine coins, which pays 1000x your stake per spin.
The Wild Bard free spins feature gives you a chance to triple any win in the game – including the 1000x quick hit prize. To trigger it, you’ll need to land the compass scatter in the center of the game grid. A glowing compass signals the transition to the features and the fog rolls in. The compass becomes a wheel that spins for two values. It will award anywhere from 10 to 25 free spins. It will also award a multiplier for all wins for 1x, 2x, or 3x. If you land another scatter during the feature, you’ll be given the same number of free spins you received initially.
When you head back to the Bard and his reels, you’ll see that he actually looks happy. He smiles wide and reveals a golden tooth. Throughout your spins, it seems that he’s on your side and hoping for big wins. And big wins you may very well have with so many golden coins floating around the reels. At the end of the feature, two purple tentacles will reveal the total win. Then all the winnings rain down as golden coins upon a tattooed mermaid. Afterward, you return to the base game.
The Wild Bard RTP is set to 96.27%. This is above average for similar video slots and might draw in those gamblers who love an unconventional game. The volatility for the slot is medium. Players can expect a variety of prizes and quite frequent wins.
