Find the Best Guaraní Casino Online

If you are looking to visit a casino in Paraguay, you are in luck, as there are several excellent options available. However, you need to keep a few important things in mind when doing your research on where to go. Casinos are only legal in certain regions of the country. We recommend visiting Asunción as most high-class casinos are situated there. Good alternatives are Alto Paraná, Cordillera, and San Pedro. The minimum age to enter a casino is 18.

Nowadays, many residents prefer to play online instead of visiting the local casinos. This is due to the fact that the land-based casinos are often far away from many people and not easy to reach. Foreign-based online casinos offer the convenience to be able to play from home. On top of that, they have a much larger game selection. The legal situation for online casinos is not entirely clear in Paraguay but the government does not prosecute any players.

  • Check the jurisdiction of the online casino ahead of time
  • Does the casino accept players from Paraguay?
  • Do you have access to the accepted payment methods?
  • Is the casino properly licensed to ensure fair gaming?
  • The minimum age for gambling in Paraguay is 18

In order to find out more about the best international online casinos that accept players from Paraguay, we recommend checking out our GoodLuckMate top lists and casino reviews.

Gambling Regulation – Comisión Nacional de Juegos de Azar

Paraguay suffered from many hardships after gaining its independence from Spain in 1811. This includes the six-year war and several disputes with Argentina and Brazil where they lost about 25 percent of their land. In 1993, a positive change was on the horizon as the first democratic elections were held in the country. In an effort to boost the devastated economy, the government passed the so-called Law No. 1016 and established the “Comisión Nacional de Juegos de Azar” (CONAJZAR) – The National Commission of Games of Chance. This regulatory body is in charge of all gambling activities and facilities in Paraguay.

Today, all forms of gambling are fully legal. However, casinos can only be operated in Alto Paraná, Asunción, Caaguazú, Cordillera, Itapúa, and San Pedro exclusively. In spite of all these efforts, the gambling industry failed to attract big investors and didn’t turn into the huge success that the government was hoping for.

At this point, Paraguay has no laws pertaining to online gambling specifically. The situation is not that clear, however. Quite recently, the government cracked down on an illegal online gambling operation. In the course of this, 80 Taiwanese nationals were taken into custody. This was mostly due to the fact that they were operating from within the country without a sufficient license but there aren’t many details available on the topic. Right now, residents of Paraguay are free to play at foreign-based online casinos.

Localized Online Casinos

Since there are no online casinos based in Paraguay itself, the only option is to resort to international gambling sites. As previously mentioned, this is tolerated by the government and players can take part in online gambling at foreign-based casinos without hesitation. Unfortunately, we are not aware of any Guaraní online casinos that are specifically designed for the local crowd. Since the vast majority of people in Paraguay speak Spanish as well, there are plenty of great alternatives available.

Gambling with Paraguayan Guaraní

In Paraguay, it is not a problem to play in the local currency. All land-based casinos accept Paraguayan guaraní. In some cases, US dollars are also accepted on some tables, especially when it comes to poker. The larger casinos are outfitted with ATMs and options for currency exchange. Paraguayan guaraní are accepted in several local bingo halls as well and can be used to play the national lottery. Unfortunately, we are not aware of any online casinos that support the Paraguayan guaraní as a currency. Most locals chose to play for US dollars or euros instead. It is possible to deposit with your local bank account or credit card for a small currency exchange fee.

Casinos in Paraguay

The Casino de Asunción Único is by far the largest entertainment center in Paraguay. It is open all year round. The casino offers live shows and a great variety of gastronomic options. Of course, there is also a huge selection of slot machines and table games such as roulette, poker, baccarat, and blackjack. There are several other casinos in the country that are worth a visit. This includes the Amambay Hotel & Casino, the Carnaval Hotel & Casino, the Casino Vivant, the Hotel Guaraní Esplendor & Casino, the Casino de Asunción by Worest, the Hotel and Casino Acaray, and the 7 Saltos Resort and Casino. We should mention that the vast majority of high-class casinos are based in Asunción. Online casinos that accept players from Paraguay are oftentimes regulated and located in Curaçao, Anjouan, St. Kitts, or Costa Rica, for example.

Q:

Why is online gambling illegal in some countries?

A:

There are various reasons why some countries haven’t legalized online gambling yet. Some are simply lacking proper legislation. It makes sense to ban the activity until appropriate rules and laws are established. In other countries, gambling is prohibited as an activity, both online and offline. Other countries are protecting the interest of land-based gambling facilities by not allowing online casino games.

Q:

Which country has the most online gambling?

A:

The numbers change constantly and differ by the report. Some newer figures name the UK, the US, and Australia as the biggest online gambling markets by gross gaming revenue. Italy, France, Germany, Canada, and Sweden follow them.

Q:

Is it legal to gamble online in my country?

A:

Every country has its own national laws and regulations regarding online gambling. To know whether it’s legal to gamble on the internet in your country, it’s vital to consult the local regulations. We do offer regulation overviews for most countries on GoodLuckMate. However, they tend to change, so knowing your rights and obligations is important before registering with online casinos.

Q:

What’s the online gambling authority in my jurisdiction?

A:

It depends on where you live. Most countries have appointed bodies for this purpose. For example, there’s the UK Gambling Commission in the UK and the Malta Gaming Authority in Malta. Some countries lack such authorities or assign the iGaming regulation to bodies that oversee other sectors, like the alcohol and cigarette ones.

Q:

How to get help for my online gambling problem in my country?

A:

Different countries have different approaches when it comes to dealing with problem gambling and providing support. Some countries have national bodies that help, while others collaborate with organizations. Any other restrictions depend on your location.

Q:

Why can’t I see games from some casino providers?

A:

Luckily, there are thousands of games and hundreds of game studios. So, you’ll surely have something to play!

Q:

Can I claim bonuses at international gambling sites outside my country?

A:

It depends on the gambling site and its bonus policy. If players from your country are allowed to claim bonuses and partake in promotions, then you won’t have any issues. Q:

Can I use my national currency when gambling online?

A:

Whether you can deposit and play in your national currency depends on where you play. Most casinos support the currencies of all countries they target, with the EUR, USD, and GBP being the most commonly found ones. The surest way to check the supported currencies is to visit the online casino’s cashier or read its T&Cs.

Q:

How do online casinos know where I come from?

A:

Online casinos use geolocation and geotargeting tools to help them detect where their visitors come from. Not all of the casinos use such tools, of course. Usually, they have such measures if their licensing authorities demand them. So, if you access them from a banned country, the tool will recognize your location, and you won’t be allowed to open the site.
