Betway Partners with ATP’s MercedesCup Tournament
Online gambling brand, Betway, announced its partnership with the MercedesCup of the ATP. The partnership means Betway will be the official betting partner of the MercedesCup tennis tournament.
Betway Secures MercedesCup Sponsorship
Betway is on a streak of partnerships and sponsoring the MercedesCup tournament is another feather in its cap. The online gambling brand made a return to sponsoring tennis tournaments after its announcement that it will be the official betting partner of the ATP250 MercedesCup tournament.
The tournament is set to kick off in Stuttgart, Germany, at the Club Weissenhof starting June 8 to June 13. This tournament is highly ranked among the top grass tournaments in the ATP Tour coming before the Wimbledon Grand Slam.
This year’s tournament is set to attract top talents such as Nick Kyrgios, Stan Wawrinka, and Denis Shapovalov. The tournament wasn’t always known as the MercedesCup. It acquired the name after Mercedes started sponsoring the tournament. Before that, it was known as the Stuttgart Open.
Betway’s Focus on Tennis
The MercedesCup Tournament Director, Edwin Weindorfer commented on the partnership. According to him, Betway is a successful company and the tournament is more than happy to partner with it in sponsoring the tournament, especially during a challenging period. Mr. Weindorfer also spoke about Betway’s focus on tennis. According to him, tennis is a perfect communication platform.
On his end, Betway CEO, Anthony Werkman, expressed the company’s joy at becoming the official betting partner of the tournament. Mr. Werkman also pledged Betway’s continued support for the sport worldwide.
The partnership with the MercedesCup is set to last three years. Consequently, Betway joins a list of other sponsors that include Emirates, Wir machen Druck, Liqui Moly, GG Elementum, Gazi, Lavazza among others.
A Lift on Sponsorship Ban Gives Betway the Green Light
The ATP Tour lifted its sports betting collaboration ban, thus allowing Betway and the MercedesCup to reach a sponsorship agreement. This ban suspension came after the TUI (Tennis and Integrity Unit) revised commercial agreements. As a result, the ATP250 and 500 tournaments had the chance to partner with licensed and regulated bookmakers.
Having said that, the Grand Slam and ATP Masters events in the Australian Open, US Open, French Open, and Wimbledon are still prevented from collaborating with sports wagering companies.
Betway has been on a streak of partnerships, with the sports betting company already set to sponsor the Estoril Portugal Open, Miami Open, and Mutua Madrid. These are all ATP Tour events as it solidifies its commitment to supporting professional tennis worldwide.
Betway’s Increasing Sports Sponsorships
Betway has mastered the art of securing partnerships with sports teams and tournaments. Just recently, the sports betting company signed a deal with Surrey, an English county club. This marked the latest partnership in the world of cricket.
In May, the company announced its partnership with NHL to become the league’s official sports betting partner. The move to partner with the NHL is part of Betway’s strategy to penetrate the U.S. sports betting market. In March, the company also signed deals with the NBA (National Basketball Association). It also collaborated with the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Chicago Bulls.
Betway is a globally acclaimed online gambling platform. The company started operations in 2006 and has since grown into a top online operator. Its headquarters are in Malta but it also has offices in the Isle of Man, Cape Town, and London.
