DraftKings and The PGA Tour Sign Sponsorship Deal
DraftKings has announced its latest partnership with The PGA tour. The sponsorship agreements with DraftKings will see the betting operator sponsor two tournaments of the tour. DraftKings is a top sportsbook and daily fantasy brand.
Expanding its Reach by Stepping into Golf
DraftKings looks to expand its market reach after partnering with The PGA Tour. The agreement will see DraftKings become the first betting operator of the World Golf Championship-FedEx St.Jude Invitational. This tournament is set to kick off from August 2 to August 8 at the TPC Southwind.
It’s also set to operate under the same status for The Northern Trust PGA Tour tournament. This tournament will start on August 18 and run until August 22 at the Liberty National Golf Club.
Ezra Kucharz expressed DraftKings’ appreciation for the partnership with The PGA Tour. The Chief Business Officer stated the partnership presented the brand with an opportunity to expand its presence in golf. Mr. Kucharz concluded by promising fans an exciting experience at both tournaments.
Darrell Smith said the existing partnership between The PGA Tour and DraftKings made it easy to choose them for the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. The WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational Executive Director expressed excitement for being one of the events in the PGA Tour to provide a public setting in the category.
Using DraftKings as its New Vehicle to Access More Markets
The PGA Tour and DraftKings go a while back in terms of their partnership. Both parties first collaborated in July 2019. The pro-golf organization named DraftKings its official fantasy game partner. It later became PGA Tour’s official betting operator in 2020.
But the PGA Tour seems to take a new direction with how it intends to popularize the sport. Both parties signed a market access deal to enter Arizona through TPC Scottsdale. This is a retail sportsbook that DraftKings and The PGA Tour are set to operate.
The sportsbook will provide mobile sports betting in Arizona. But they will have to wait a while longer as the state’s gambling watchdog scrutinizes licensing requirements. Arizona hopes to launch the market on September 9, 2021.
DraftKings to Provide Hospitality Suites Under the Agreement
The partnership with the golf organization will see DraftKings provide hospitality suites for the two tournaments. These hospitality suites will go by the title “DraftKings House.” Customers can look forward to a priceless view from their open-air patios. This is courtesy of the 18th Green allocation at the FedEx St. Jude Invitational.
The Northern Trust tournament allocated DraftKings between the 15th green and the 16th fairway. These suites will offer a VIP section for exclusive hospitality.
Julie Tyson spoke on the tournament having exclusive on-site experiences to cater to multiple fans. The Northern Trust Executive Director also expressed their anticipation at the commencement of the tournament.
Both suites at the locations will offer open space. DraftKings is also set to offer fans live sports events including golf via TV broadcasts. Phone chargers, Wi-Fi access, and multiple food and beverage points.
DraftKings will host The Northern Trust Fantasy Golf World Championship for the first time. The prize pool for the championship will be a whopping $4 million. The Championship will take place over four days of the tournament. Forty of the top daily fantasy players get a chance to fight for the $1 million prize for scooping first place.
