The Pennsylvania-based operator, Penn National Gaming is the newest to join the American Gaming Association’s newest responsible gambling program. The new program is called ‘Have a Game Plan. Bet Responsibly’ and it puts a focus on sports bettors.
The new program was devised by the American Gaming Association and was started in September 2021. This new scheme builds on the original Have a Plan initiative that the AGA started back in 2019. The original program was a big success and has educated many sports bettors on the potential dangers of sports betting.
The new program will be based on four important parts of responsible betting. This includes managing your budget, understanding odds, keeping betting as a social practice, and only using regulated operators. For the latter point, the program will highlight how players can spot an unlicensed operator and educate them on which operators should be used.
Penn National Gaming will use its popular Barstool betting platform and its social media profiles to promote the program. It will also have responsible gambling resources available at its land-based venues.
Speaking on behalf of PNG, Jon Kaplowitz, the company’s head of interactive stated that responsible gambling is a core value. They added that they were excited to be working with the AGA to help promote the cause and help their customers.
They said that regardless of experience, the new initiative will help them provide support to everyone. They put an emphasis on making the campaign fan-friendly and accessible.
Casey Clark, the AGA VP, said that they believe PNG’s impressive platform will really help to promote the message. They added that they appreciate the company’s effort in spreading the word.
Penn National Gaming is by no means the first major company to sign up for this program. The initiative has seen support from all across the sports and betting worlds. Teams, leagues, and other companies from all across the country have signed up to take part. There are currently over 20 companies involved.
Rush Street Interactive, DraftKings, and BetMGM are among the other operators to have joined. Leagues such as the NHL and the PGA have also agreed to take part, as well as major teams like the New York Jets.
Penn National Gaming is a leading operator for casino and sport betting in the United States. The publicly listed company is based in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, and owns 44 venues across the United States and Canada.
Many of its venues operate under the popular Hollywood Casino brand. PNG also owns a 36% share in the popular sports betting operator, Barstool Sports, giving it a significant share in the market.
