The exciting young games development studio, Peter & Sons, has agreed to a deal with Yggdrasil, which will see the studio use the innovative gameplay feature, Gigablox, in its upcoming releases, with the first title with the feature set to be released before the end of 2021.
The Gigablox mechanic is one of three exciting mechanics to have been launched by Yggdrasil in recent memory. Besides this, the game provider has developed cutting-edge the Splitz and Multimax features. Several other companies, as Peter & Sons, have signed up to use these mechanics, including Reflex Gaming, Dreamtech Gaming, and Bang Bang Games.
The Gigablox mechanic has made its debut in two slots released by Yggdrasil - Hades and Lucky Neko. In the latter, the mechanic sees giant blocks - the ‘Gigablox’- drop down onto the reels during bonus rounds. These blocks can take up to a 6x6 space on the grid. The studio took this one step further in Hades, introducing the concept of dualling Gigablox in an exciting underworld-based setting.
As for the other two new slot mechanics that the company has in the works - Multimax is a feature that accumulates multipliers on the reels and provides cascading wins. Splitz, as its name might suggest, involves splitting mystery symbols across different reels in order to create bigger wins. These two features have both been successful implemented on slots in recent times and the studios who have signed an agreement with Yggdrasil will no doubt be itching to utilize them as well.
As part of the Yggdrasil content partner program - there will also be some further gameplay mechanics released later in the year. Peter & Sons Business Development Manager Yann Bautista appeared to be very happy with his company’s decision to embrace the mechanic and to be a part of the Yggdrasil content partner program. He said that he was looking forward to finding new ways to entertain players, and he believes that Yggdrasil’s established gameplay mechanics and frameworks are a great way to do just that. He also went on to explain how he believes that the addition of the Gigablox mechanic helps to add significant business value to his company as one of the content partners.
Stuart McCarthy, Head of Partner Programs for Yggdrasil also commented on the move and the general enthusiasm for his company’s products. He said that it was a sign of how popular the Yggdrasil slot mechanics are with players all around the world. He also believes that the implementation of this mechanic will help to take Peter & Sons products to the next level.
This announcement is not the only noteworthy news to come from Yggdrasil recently. The company has also recently launched a title designed by TrueLab called Viking Runes. This is another title that has been released as part of the aforementioned content partner program. Viking Runes is a nordic themed slot that utilized a unique cluster pay system and has several reel modifiers in place.
The end of March also saw the release of the much-anticipated sequel to the company’s 2018 hit, Easter Island, which promises to be another big hit for the studio.
