Playtech has announced a continuation of its long-term partnership with the Netherland’s based Holland Casino. The deal is particularly significant as the country itself prepares to begin licensing for online gambling outlets.
As part of this new agreement, Playtech will become Holland Casino’s strategic technology supplier across all of its platforms. It will also see Playtech build a live casino facility near one of Holland Casino’s 14 locations. This will be able to be used online.
The two companies have worked together for quite some time already. Back in 2014, Playtech signed on to provide its technology for Holland Casino in what was set to be a Dutch regulated gambling market. Various setbacks kicked in and that launch has been delayed until October 2021.
There should be no more bumps in the road though, with The Netherlands passing the Remote Gambling Act 2021 on April 1st. This will allow the country’s gambling regulator, Kansspelautoriteit, to hand out online gambling licenses. At the time of writing, the gambling authority has reported that it has received 28 license applications. Though, there is no information on which operators have applied.
Holland Casino is a state-owned leading gambling company in the Netherlands. The company owns 14 locations across the country. Now, it is looking to make a splash on the Dutch iGaming as it becomes regulated. Playtech’s technology will no doubt play a significant role in helping them achieve this.
Playtech CEO Mor Weizer is understandably very excited about the deal. He spoke of how he believed the combination of Playtech’s experience, and Holland Casino’s local reputation could see them drive online growth in the market. These two factors also are likely to give Holland Casino an advantage over many of its competitors when the market does launch in October.
This is not the first major move that Playtech has made this year. It put pen to paper on a similar deal with the ComeOn Group last month. Plus, it also opened its first US-based live casino in Michigan. All of these moves come after the company announced a year-on-year drop in profit back in March.
The developer has a fantastic reputation for delivering responsible gambling products. This has not gone unnoticed by Holland Casino CEO Erwin van Lambaart. When talking about the deal, he addressed the developer’s record in this department. He believes the company has the expertise and experience to deliver top-quality products to the top casino in the country.
Holland Casino has also been busy signing other deals. The company recently announced a partnership with TruNarrative, which will be its Regtech provider. This will help the casino with its land-based onboarding process.
Playtech first opened its doors in 1999, in Estonia. Since then, the company has earned itself a reputation as one of the leading providers in the iGaming industry. With over two decades of experience under its belt, it delivers top-quality content to casinos around the globe.
As well as being listed on the London Stock Exchange, the company now operates in over 24 countries, boasting around 6,400 employees. Despite starting life in Estonia, the company now operates from the Isle of Man.
