Unibet and SEF Launch Responsible Gambling Program

All football players and coaches in the top two divisions of Swedish football will undergo gambling safety and responsibility courses. This is part of a new initiative organized by the Swedish Elite Football (SEF) association and the popular operator, Unibet.

All Players & Coaches To Take Training

Unibet and SEF have worked together to put together a detailed set of online courses focusing on player responsibility and safe gambling. Players and coaches from both the Allsvenskan and Superettan will begin taking the courses once the 2020 season wraps up.

Every player will have to complete the courses. It will be the responsibility of the integrity officer at each club to ensure that this is the case. No timeframe for this has been announced but it would be assumed it would need to be before the start of the new season.

The course will put a focus on self-assessment. Players will have to talk about their own gambling experiences and behavior, in the hope that it will help them recognize potentially harmful patterns. It will also provide players with responsible gambling resources and contact information.

A Program Built on Strong Foundations

This program is not the first to come from the relationship between Unibet and the SEF. The two worked together earlier in the year to provide a match-fixing course that was taken by all players across the two divisions.

This latest program is a key part of the sponsorship deal that the two have. Both companies want to put a focus on responsible gambling in the sport and will no doubt continue to provide such programs in the future.

Unibet and SEF Launch Responsible Gambling Program

An Important Program

Philip Lagström, Unibet’s manager in Sweden spoke about the program. He said that the partnership with SEF has seen both parties make several attempts to combat unsafe gambling and match-fixing.

Through the partnership, they want to help spread awareness and their company’s knowledge of the industry. They added that Unibet aimed to have 0% revenue from harmful gambling practices by the end of 2023. It hopes to achieve this with the help of the SEF.

Anders Wikström, the integrity officer for the SEF shared these views. They said that they recognize gambling can be an issue for some, and through this program, they want to offer more responsible gambling tools.

Unibet - A Major European Operator

When it comes to online sports betting, few providers are as well known as Unibet. The company was founded back in 1997 and is home to around 11 million customers from over 100 different countries.

As you can see in our Unibet Casino review, the operator also provides a big selection of top online casino games alongside its impressive sportsbook offering. In short, you can find just about everything you need at Unibet.
