- Hardly any promotions
- Support is not 24/7
This online casino and sportsbook site is part of a new wave of brands looking to focus primarily on eSports, whilst also making it a doddle to use the same account for regular sports betting and for playing slots, table games, and live dealer titles. In fact, there are plenty of Thunderpick games to enjoy here, despite them being third down the pecking order in terms of how the site is structured. On top of this, there’s great 24-hour support, the ability to deposit and withdraw using both Fiat currencies and cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, and a modern interface for easily navigating between the different betting options. So, place your bets as we kick off this review…
Thunderpick Casino review: our verdict
What to expect at Thunderpick:
- Brilliant games selection
- Great eSports offering
- In-play betting featured
- Bitcoin fully accepted
- Mobile-friendly design
The lack of details about the welcome bonus really put us off this site initially until we got more info. However, once we saw the range of games available in lots of different categories, as well as the comprehensive eSports and sports betting features, we were won over. If 24-hour support can be added, as well as a few promotions to keep players happy in the long run, then this site could challenge the big boys of the industry. So, we’re definitely going to keep an eye on this one – and you should, too. In the end, it might turn out that it is simply ahead of its time!

The main Thunderpick bonus for new players is a 5% deal worth up to €500. And while that percentage is indeed poor compared to other brands, we were doubly disappointed about being shown the offer when we first loaded the site, only for any mention of it to disappear as soon as we started looking around a bit more. And we looked everywhere possible for this information, even doing various searches for Thunderpick bonus code or Thunderpick free spins, but nothing came up anywhere.
However, not to be put off, we contacted a member of the customer support team and found that the offer does indeed exist and is valid for new players. So, on your first deposit, you will receive an additional 5% on top up to a maximum bonus of €500. So, we’re glad about that!
According to customer support, there are hardly any attached terms and conditions for the offer. There isn’t even a wagering requirement, which is really rather excellent news. However, you will need to play through 200% of your initial deposit, which is more than doable, of course – plus you can still come out on top after that fairly easily. But as this deal doesn’t have any terms and conditions, we suggest you contact an agent to confirm the details, then make a screenshot so that you have everything in writing in case an issue arises. It’s better to be safe than sorry!
With the lack of a welcome bonus that we can view in full, we turn to the Thunderpick Promotions page (called Rewards on the site) with a longing, hopeful face. However, hardly anything existed there either, which is a pretty poor showing compared to other sites we’ve reviewed in the same categories of offering eSports, sports betting, and casino games. So, while there aren’t any promotions in the traditional sense, there is a decent loyalty points scheme that can see you move up the ranks from Unranked to Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, and eventually Challenger. Your points are called Thundercoins and these can be used to obtain extra goodies such as Giftcards – essentially a small number of bonus funds.
One fairly unique feature of this brand is the ability to link your Steam account for earning more points depending on your CS:GO, DOTA 2, or PUBG scores. So, while betting on the latest eSports events, you can earn yourself more funds by improving your rankings in those games. Another advantage of doing this is that you can refer other players to the site (or be referred yourself in the first place, of course), which unlocks even more Giftcards and Thundercoins.
All in all, then, we have to say that this site has taken an unusual approach by removing traditional bonuses from its site. But if you’re a keen gamer who likes to share your time between playing rounds of Overwatch and betting on your favorite eSports teams, this could be the one for you. We’re just highly suspect about whether this strategy will work in the long run.
While eSports betting (and other sportsbook features) is this site’s raison d’etre, we have to admit that the online casino side of things is very fleshed out and warrants a decent look within this review. So, we’ll start off with the casino, then move onto the other parts of the site, in reverse order. And, wow, there really are a lot of excellent games providers signed up with Thunderpick. For example, just picking out some of the bigger names, there’s Big Time Gaming, Pragmatic Play, Elk Studios, Quickspin, Blueprint Gaming, EvoPlay, and MrSlotty. That’s more than enough to keep ardent slots, table games, and live casino fans entertained for months.
At the top of the page, you’ll first need to pick Games to get to the right area of the site. From there, you will have the following options running down the left-hand sidebar menu: Spin, Crash, Live Casino (see below), Slots, Cards, Poker, Video Poker, Roulette, Craps, and Casual. All of this gives you plenty of choices for finding something fun depending on the types of releases you enjoy the most. Heading over to the Slots section first, we found that the top seven games (using the sort by Popularity feature) were 888 Dragons, Asgard, Aztec Gems, Bronco Spirit, Buffalo King, Caishen’s Cash, and Caishen’s Gold. So, while these particular titles seem to be based stories from the American Wild West and Asia’s rich history, there are lots of choices.
We touched on using the ‘sort by’ feature. The other options available here are A-Z, RTP, and Volatility, which really helps you to drill down into a particular type of game regardless of the theme. You can also filter the results by provider or else search for the title directly in the bar at the top. Usefully, there’s an excellent popup window that appears whenever you hover over the ‘i’ icon below each game tile – this will reveal the release’s RTP, paylines, and volatility. Cool!
On the table games front, these are divided into the various applicable categories mentioned above. However, there are some anomalies. Firstly, baccarat titles are lumped into the Roulette section. And secondly, the Video Poker and Craps areas are hardly worth a click – both have less than five games apiece. So, it is in these areas where the focus on other types of betting begins to show – however, those looking for blackjack titles won’t be disappointed here.
We must admit that we were more than a little disappointed here. While a separate jackpots section could be forgiven if omitted from the site, it’s not doing the brand any favors by entirely foregoing any decent progressive jackpots. This could be down to the choices made when signing up with games studios (jackpot monsters like NetEnt and Microgaming are sadly missing here), but may also be linked to personal preference at the casino. Regardless, if jackpot releases are your main reason for playing slots, then you’re better off avoiding this online casino in favor of a rival brand. Therefore, we’re taking some marks off Thunderpick’s score.
Thankfully, the Live Casino area is a dramatic improvement over the last section we reviewed. Plus, there are two different studios supplying all of the live dealer action here. And Ezugi and Pragmatic Play Live have stepped up to the plate admirably. Of course, you get a few different versions of the classic table games like roulette, blackjack, and baccarat, but you also get to experience things like dragon tiger, casino hold’em, and Teen Patti. Additionally, there are a few tables reserved for VIPs and high rollers (with increased minimum bets, of course) and a few other tables where the croupier will speak something other than English. All of this is great to see and our estimations of Thunderpick go up again, especially after the jackpots section.
Sportsbetting couldn’t be easier at Thunderpick. Choose Sports from the main menu at the top of the screen and you’re presented with a screen divided into three main columns, with the larger of the bunch being the one in the middle. There, you will find the latest events happening at any given moment – which also enables you to get in on the latest in-play betting action too. At the time of writing, this section was populated with the latest NBL games from America, with the Colorado Rockies playing at the LA Dodgers being the pick of the games right at the top.
To see the range of other sporting events either in-play or coming up soon, you simply choose the sport over on the left-hand sidebar from any of the following: American Football, Aussie Rules, Baseball, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Ice Hockey, Martial Arts (including MMA or UFC, of course), Rugby, Snooker, Tennis, and Volleyball. These are updated to represent the most popular each day and there is an option at the bottom to Show More, which brought up five more categories. These were Darts, Golf, Handball, Table Tennis, and a general one: Other.
Over on the right-hand side, you permanently have your virtual Bet Slip available at all times – in fact, this doesn’t even go away when you’re in the more casino-orientated Games area. There are two main areas here: Single and Combo. These are for making single bets on a particular game result or else to combine results from multiple matches, with the latter increasing your odds considerably but also making any win that little bit more lucrative. Either way, the Bet Slip does everything for you, including calculating how much you will win.
Betting in-play works in exactly the same way as betting on matches ahead of the kick-off does. Simply find a game that’s currently taking place and you’ll find myriad options for wagering on the most minuscule elements of the event, from the number of corners, cards, and collective goals to everything else you could think of really. The only difference from regular betting is that you’ll need to make decisions fast, as the odds are updated every few seconds, especially whenever a major event occurs that could change the entire match. Also, as an added bonus, you get a wealth of stats to help you analyze the current match-up, or you can watch certain events live without even leaving the site. This last option is worth the price of admission (a bet) alone!
Then, when it comes to eSports, you get to use exactly the same mechanics as laid out above, with the added bonus of being able to choose from lots of leagues around the world. The range of competitive video games is also very decent, and all of the major ones such as CS:GO, DOTA 2, League of Legends, Rocket League, and Valorant are covered. Plus, these events can be streamed directly within the main betting window, so you can bet in real-time as things happen. Therefore, we’ve got to give Thunderpick top marks here – it can’t be improved!
First of all, we should explain that your chosen currency defines how your account is handled. So, either you deposit, play, and withdraw via a Fiat currency such as euros, or you exactly the same thing with one of the available cryptocurrencies – the choices here are Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin, Ripple, or Tether. You cannot move a Fiat currency over to crypto or vice versa and, of course, all of the latter requires you to have a compatible eWallet to get started. Fiat currency users get the options of Visa, Mastercard, Neteller, Skrill, Paysafecard, among others and there are no fees charged by Thunderpick whatsoever, which is great to see! Plus, for withdrawals, you’ll be pleased to know all requests are processed within 24 hours.
As is the case at near enough every casino we’ve ever reviewed, you will be sent a verification email the moment you sign up (check your spam folder if nothing comes through). A simple click on the link within the email will see that you’re a verified user on the site. However, if you want to link your registered Steam account, we recommend following the detailed instructions on the site itself. Then, around the time of your first-ever withdrawal request, you will be asked to supply certain documents for security purposes. This will involve uploading copies of your main identification document (such as a passport, driver’s license, or national ID card) and proof of address, which can be something like an official bank statement or a recent utility bill. Simple!
Because this sportsbook and casino site has enabled players to use cryptocurrencies, the natural choice for the license has gone to the Government of Curacao. This one used to be frowned upon, but is now perfectly reputable within the iGaming industry. Added to this, there is full SSL encryption used across the entire site, which means your personal and financial data will be kept under lock and key at all times. Therefore, we have no complaints in this section.
As we mentioned in our introduction, we are super impressed with the overall design of this site. The black background with white/grey text and bright blue highlights really makes the whole shebang feel very modern. It’s clear the designers have taken a lot of visual cues from the video game industry and must clearly all be hardcore gamers themselves. The same level of attention to detail has been brought across to the usability of the site too, with the simplest possible navigation system working like a charm here, and we didn’t find any issues finding our way around the various different areas. The only weird thing, for us, was the always active Bet Slip even when we were in the Casino Games section – though we could watch our bets come in!
We’ve gone over the main functionality and the various options for making bets or choosing to play slots, table games, or live casino above. The other options you should know about are more to do with navigating to less frequently used pages. So, just below the list of sporting events (or categories in the Games area) are links to things like Leaderboard, Rewards, Referral, FAQ, and Blog. Then below that is information about the license and the option to change the site from English into Chinese, German, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, or Turkish. Live chat is available by clicking the blue Support bar with a speech bubble icon at the bottom.
Lastly, in the footer area of the site, there are links to the Thunderpick VIP Club, Legal, Privacy, Provably Fair, and Responsible Gaming pages. So, as we say, this site is simple but effective!
Being a fairly modern site (having launched in 2015), the Thunderpick mobile casino works just as well as the ultra-sleek desktop version. Plus, there’s no need to hunt down and download an app from either Apple or Google. All you need to do here is point your mobile browser, whether that’s Safari, Chrome, Opera, Firefox, or whatever else at the site URL and you can do everything you can from a laptop or PC. That includes making deposits/withdrawals, filling up your Bet Slip, or playing one of the video slots, for example. In fact, we particularly enjoyed using a touchscreen device like an iPhone, iPad, or Android as the multi-gesture support really helped when playing certain games. So, it’s hats off to the mobile designers here. Nice one!
Whenever you have an issue with something, your first port of call should always be the FAQ page. This is excellently written, covers a wide variety of topics (particularly ones on features that are not standard at other online casinos), and makes for a useful knowledge base for the entire site. And we would like to highlight one area in particular. If you’ve been wanting to try out betting with cryptocurrencies, there is a full explanation for how to do this within the FAQs. Nice!
These are the main categories in the Thunderpick Casino FAQ:
- Provably Fair
If you can’t find what you’re looking for in the FAQs or if you want to check something specific to your account, then you can always get in touch with a member of the customer support team. There are two main options. The first of these is live chat, accessed from the Support bar that hovers along the bottom of the screen at all times. Enter your name, email, subject, and message in the fields to get going with that one. Although, it must be said that you can only do this between the hours of 07:00 (CET) and 23:00 (CET) each day. Then, if your inquiry is less urgent or it’s the middle of the night in Europe, you can always send an email over to [email protected] instead. You’ll receive a response within a few hours normally.
