Yukon Gold Casino draws its name from the northwestern territory of Canada, made famous by its historical gold rushes. The rush at this site starts off with a large chunk of bonus spins on your first deposit. Part of the Casino Rewards group, which is an umbrella for 29 member sites, this organization has been in operation for over 15 years and is still going strong to this day. That is definitely no easy feat, but whether Yukon Gold specifically can live up to its own name is what we will be digging into throughout this review.
There are many Yukon Gold bonuses, free spins, and other promotions available based on players' country of residence. New players at Yukon Gold casino will be able to partake in a welcome bonus, and the offer available for players in your country is listed below.
Slots are definitely the main focus of the Yukon Gold Casino games collection. There are however still a good amount of other choices for players to enjoy. Jackpots, table and live casino games are all available, with several categories that makes it all easy to search through. Having categories for Recently Played and Favourites (that you can customize yourself) are nice additions that gives you some control over your searching experience. There are also filters in each category that let you narrow down your search, such as choosing between 3 or 5 payline slots.
Slots and Table Games
All but a few of the Yukon Gold Casino slot games are powered by Microgaming, which has a stellar reputation for being amongst the top game providers in the industry. They have an expansive and varied collection that fits a lot of playstyles. Games like Immortal Romance and Thunderstruck II are both incredibly popular and are a definite must for some players.
Unfortunately, we don’t feel that this can be quite enough to keep the slots section competitive with other establishments. While Microgaming is a very popular provider, it is not particularly exclusive. Their games are offered at the vast majority of online casinos and are supported in unison with a bunch of other providers. It has gotten to the point where many sites can boast thousands of playable slots with tons of variety, which is not quite the case here.
There are currently 24 table games to choose from with a good variety of Blackjack, Baccarat and Roulette games to choose from. Additionally there are 7 Video Poker offerings for people to choose between. Both have their own individual category, making them easy enough to look through.
Jackpots at Yukon Gold Casino
A separate Progressive Jackpots category is provided for the 6 titles offered. This might not be a large variety, but the jackpot amounts certainly are. With the king of progressives Mega Moolah being available, you can often see the amount skyrocket into the millions of euros. There’s also 2 exclusive titles offered with Mega Vault Millionaire and Treasure Quest.
While there are not a lot of titles to pick from, the fact that Mega Moolah is available does make up for this somewhat. Whether it is enough to compensate for other great jackpot games, like Divine Fortune and Hall Of Gods, will come down to preference. We would however still appreciate seeing more variety offered either way.
Live Casino Games
There’s about a dozen live casino games available and powered by Evolution Gaming. This provider is arguably the best in the business and has a large selection of games that all feature professional and accommodating dealers, who are housed in high-quality and atmospheric studio settings. Players are also given live chat functionality to interact with the dealer and other players seated at the table.
You’ve got Blackjack, Baccarat, Roulette, and Poker tables available to play at, along with some other specialty games. Monopoly Live, for instance, presents a great blend of the classic board game and live casino action. While these are all great choices, we are a little disappointed to see that the full catalog of Evolution Gaming’s tables are not supported here.
If we had to summarize our experience with this site in one word, it would be ‘confusion’. Upon account creation, we instantly noticed a mobile site design, even when playing on a desktop. There are no bottom links to FAQs, terms and conditions, and other informative pages. Additionally, the URL displays a .co.uk site, which we found especially odd considering we were logging in from outside the UK. When contacting support about this we were told that this was normal and unfortunately couldn’t get any clearer exclamation as to why this was the case.
The Yukon Gold mobile casino site is pretty much identical to what you will find on desktop. It appears that the mobile site was created first and then ported over to desktop. That is not an issue in and of itself if it weren’t for the overall poor and outdated design and lack of modern functionalities found at other sites. Logging in with the randomly generated username was especially a nuisance, as it is just a random string of letters and numbers. This makes it impossible to remember and made us have to refer to our desktop to be able to log in to mobile. If you are a person who is conscious about saving your login information on a mobile device, this will be a particularly annoying experience, since you cannot change your username to something more memorable.
It is very disappointing to see that all of the same usability issues found on the desktop version are present on the mobile site. It makes it especially hard to recommend signing up here, since most other sites do everything so much better, even when they also have a downloadable app available.
Yukon Gold Help & Support
In our experience, finding the FAQ page involved logging out of our account and scrolling to the bottom of the page. From here you have a pretty good informative page that covers a lot of topics, while making it very legible. Clicking on a question reveals text covering the answer, which avoids this feeling like a wall of text.
These are the main categories in the Yukon Gold Casino FAQ:
- Getting Started
- Login and Registration
- Casino Games
- Other Questions
Players have access to 24/7 support that can be contacted via email or live chat. When accessing the live chat you will first be put into contact with a bot. This is an auto-response system that tries to answer questions based on keywords you enter. The issue is that you are not informed of this straight away and you will need to specifically ask that you want to speak with a real person.
Once we asked twice to be transferred to an agent, we began a discussion regarding our confusion with being on a UK website. While the situation wasn’t exactly clarified, we were assured that it was not something to be concerned about. This led us to ask about what licenses the site holds. Unfortunately, we could not get an answer to this and were referred to contact their compliance team via email. Admittedly we found this incredibly bizarre, considering that practically every other casino’s support agents will instantly be able to answer what gambling licenses their establishment holds.
You have a decent amount of deposit and withdrawal options, with the most common methods being supported. Visa, MasterCard, Skrill, and Neteller are all available. You have a few presets for deposit amounts, but can also input your own custom amount, should you wish.
It is important to keep in mind that any currency conversion that needs to take place between your chosen deposit method and Yukon Gold will incur a 2.5% exchange fee by the casino. Furthermore, withdrawals committed via bank transfer methods will also have a transaction fee of €35 for any transactions under €3,000, while transactions over €3,000 carry a fee of €70. All withdrawals also have a pending status, which can last up to 48 hours from the time you made the request.
While it is disappointing that a dedicated payments page is not provided, you can find more information regarding transactions in the general terms and conditions.
Verifying your Yukon Gold Casino Account
You may be asked to send documentation when requesting a withdrawal or on account creation, as is the case at any online casino. These documents include proof of identity, proof of address, and proof of ownership of your chosen payment method. This process is a part of the anti-money laundering legislation that a casino must abide by and will generally be asked to be completed by all players requesting to withdraw funds.
To do this here you can send your documents via a dedicated email address. This will then take up to 2 business days to process. While not as secure as a dedicated uploader that many other sites provide, it is good to see that a separate address is provided for the handling of sensitive information. Luckily, you can initiate this process immediately upon account creation, which will prevent any potential delays to any future withdrawals you may wish to make.
The licensing status of Yukon Gold Casino is, sad to say, convoluted at best. While their UK site holds both a Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) and UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) license, this does not appear to be the case for the non-UK site. This appears to instead be licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, which is a Mohawk territory based licensing body that doesn’t carry much of a well known reputation within the industry. What makes the licensing status particularly confusing is the fact that you are still playing on a .co.uk address, even while accessing their site from outside of the UK. This is something that should generally not be the case unless you are a UK player, due to the strict legislation and jurisdiction of the UKGC. With that being the case, there is something to be said for a casino being part of a network that has been in operation for over 15 years.
It by no means makes us happy when providing a review for a casino that has so few redeeming qualities. What little that Yukon Gold Casino does well is outclassed and outdated by so many other establishments that it only adds to the overall disappointment. The selection of games is a good mix of Microgaming and Evolution Gaming titles, but doesn’t come close to competing with other sites offering thousands of titles provided by a large variety of providers. The mobile only design also lacks the diverse functional tools, promotional possibilities and modern style that casinos have to provide in order to keep up with the competition.
Simply put; there is nothing here that isn’t done better at another site. Taking this further, there are other casinos that simply do everything better. While the simplistic nature of this site may be appealing to some, the disorientating nature of the license setup and questionable usability choices quickly undos any such sentiment. We would therefore sadly not recommend this site, when there is so much strong competition available, which we welcome you to read more about in our other reviews.
