The Shark Hunter Slot Game

There are so many attributes I could ascribe to Shark Hunter. It’s a video slot with cascading reels, collectible prizes, a pay-any mechanism, and six reels. All of these features revolve around hunting sharks. 

I tip my hat to PG Soft for putting many thematic elements into this fishing game. Still, there’s just one detail I didn’t like so much - the groovy backing track might have been a good match if you were relaxing on sandy shores, but it just doesn’t fit the atmosphere of hunting great whites and hammerhead sharks. 

Symbols & Payouts

Shark Hunter rocks ten paying symbols, but only 3 of them are fish. Other symbols include the Fishing Kit, Clippers, Lure, and four minor card-like symbols. The payout rates in the base game are well-balanced, even though all wins spawn collectible instant prizes with multipliers, so let’s check them out:

Shark Hunter may appeal to both low and high rollers, as its betting range supports stakes from €0.60 to €180. It rocks a high top win of 5,000x, meaning that the wins from the highest wagers are capped at €900,000. 

Shark Hunter Bonus Features

On paper, Shark Hunter is a straightforward video slot with only three bonus features. However, all of them are highly innovative in how they work, but more importantly, they can be amazingly generous when triggered. These include Shark Multiplier instant prizes, Mega Sharks, and Free Spins, so let’s cover them all. 

Shark Multiplier Symbols

In most fish games, you can “draw” prize symbols and grab them with collectors. There’s a tiny twist in Shark Hunter, as these prizes will exclusively appear whenever you make winning combos. 

For every winning block popped, a Shark symbol with a multiplier ranging from 1x to 50x of the current bet will appear. Shark symbols will occupy a single cell, and their prizes can be reeled in with the Fisherman Collector symbol. 

Mega Shark

If you manage to lure 5 Shark prizes to the playing grid and no more wins can be achieved, they will stack together into a Mega Shark symbol. This will sum all included multipliers and empty all Shark cells (excluding the one that the newly formed Mega Shark will occupy), giving you at least four additional empty spots for new wins, scatters, or Fishermen Collectors. 

Free Spins

You’ll need to draw at least 3 scatter symbols in one tumbling sequence to enter the bonus round. Fishermen Collectors will relocate to the bottom of the reels and become sticky. 

Additionally, every 4 Hunter Collectors you grab will give you +5 bonus spins and increase the multiplier of all Hunters to 2x. Subsequent collections of Hunters (in increments of 4) will give you extra +5 free spins and progress their multiplier values to 3x, 5x, and 10x. 

How to Win at Shark Hunter

Shark Hunter is a “pay-any” slot, meaning that winning combinations are formed regardless of where symbols are located if at least 7 symbols of the same kind are present on the playing field. Keep in mind that every winning block will produce one Shark prize, which will be collected by Hunters when no new wins can be made.

Hunters in this game are unbound by line-win rules and every block yields an instant prize; moreover, 5+ prizes merge into one, triggering a partial cascade as your second chance at scoring additional wins. With this in mind, I can fully stand behind the advertised RTP of 96.73%. 

Shark Hunter is a high-volatility game with abundant regular wins, free spins exceptionally rare, and collectible prizes in the golden middle. 

Final Verdict

“Winnable” instant prizes got me hooked on Shark Hunter, but what truly reeled me in was the innovative Mega Shark stackable feature. Although I wasn’t overly impressed by the choice of music for this action-packed game, I loved the visuals and the overall vibe. 

I had to fish for quite a while before I finally got to the bonus round, so if you’re mainly into high-hit games where free spins are easy to grab, Shark Hunter might not be the best choice.
