Pragmatic Play and cloned slots are like parasites and hosts. They exist symbiotically, and it seems they can’t survive without the other. Surprisingly, some players fancy it that way while others find it exhausting to repeat the same experience ten times over.

As mentioned, the Starlight Princess Super Scatter is the new addition to the Starlight Princess series. It comes after 2024’s Starlight Princess Pachi. Unlike its immediate predecessor, this latest release features a 6x5 gameboard, powered by a Scatter Pays technique.

The background is a dreamy world above the clouds, where shooting stars and other fantasy things dwell. Once again, the Princess hovers next to the reels, holding a magic staff. While the design is colourful and polished, it’s still the same old design.

This gameplay involves nine regular symbols taking after different colours and shapes. Since it uses a Scatter Pays engine, a winning combination will be formed when 8 or more identical symbols simultaneously appear anywhere on the reels.

That said, the low-paying symbols in the Starlight Princess Super Scatter slot include the Yellow, Turquoise, Green, Blue, and Red Gems. These pay 0.25x to 2x, 0.4x to 4x, 0.5x to 5x, 0.8x to 8x, and 1x to 10x the bet, respectively.

Conclusion

Seeing this new game wasn’t a surprise, mainly because I’m used to Pragmatic Play creating ‘1000’ and ‘Super Scatter’ variants for some of their successful franchises. However, having played many Pragmatic sequels, such as the Sweet Bonanza Super Scatter, I knew this would turn out to be another reskinned game.

True to my suspicions, the game is a Gates of Olympus Super Scatter clone, but with a different theme. So, once again, you’re up against a Pays Anywhere mechanic with cascades. These are complemented by multiplier symbols, super scatters, free spins, an ante bet, and feature buys. The same top reward of 50,000x bet used in this game was also used in the parent version. 

Hitting 4 scatters could unlock the win cap. But the chances of it happening are slim, especially given the game's high variance.

In the end, while the Starlight Princess Super Scatter resembles many other games, including the original Starlight Princess, it has a boosted winning potential, which could appeal to many players. So, fans of the series have something to look forward to.
