Not all games are created equal

When taking bonus funds from an online or a mobile casino, there are certain conditions governing how the bonus money can be used. Chiefly, this is to prevent bonus abuse, but everyone needs to know about these things, otherwise, they may find that the casino voids all winnings. So, the first thing to check in the terms and conditions of any deal is if there are requirements attached to the offer of additional playing funds. For example, if you see something along the lines of ‘your bonus must be wagered 30x before being able to withdraw’, then you must play through the bonus amount received a total of 30 times. If you claimed a deal that gave you €100 under these conditions, then you must play through a total of €3,000 (100 x 30). So far, so good!

However, not all games are created equal in the eyes of the casino. Why? Well, as you'll see in our latest blackjack guide, this game has a much lower house edge than other games. That’s where wagering contributions must be taken into account. For example, you might see that slots and scratch cards contribute 100%. This is all well and good and easy to calculate – if you stick to games with 100% contributions, then your life is fairly easy. However, releases that offer players a fairly high chance of winning small amounts consistently, such as even bets on roulette, for example, then the casino will reduce the contributions offered by these games. So, you might see that roulette only contributes 5%. In this case (and using the same example as above), playing through €3,000 on roulette won’t cut it.  At 5%, your playthrough will be equal to just €150 – so either switch to other games while wagering or be prepared to play through much, much more. So, you'll see that sometimes isn't enough to learn how to play roulette but when to play it, as well.

Wagering Contribution – conclusion

We hope that this has helped clarify things. It’s always worth paying special attention to the wagering contributions of each of the different types of games. In addition to this, you may well find that some games are excluded from wagering entirely – playing these would make a single dent in your playthroughs. Therefore, double-check that your favorite titles are included on the list of high contributors or consider switching games for the time being as you satisfy the terms and conditions of the online casino offer. And that’s all you need to know about this topic! Now you can search through the GoodLuckMate top lists with renewed confidence. Good luck!
