The Big Money Wheel is a “musical-themed” slot. The trombones, vinyl records, tap-dancing shoes, violins, and the big “Party Time” fanfare displayed when you hit the bonus round have given me a cozy iGaming experience. 

I love the graphics and the audio, but unlike most NetEnt slots, this game doesn’t have a clear-cut story to tell. 

Symbols & Payouts

There are eight paying symbols in the Big Money Wheel, including four minor card symbols, and four musical major symbols. They always pay in threes or more of the same kind at the following rates: 

• Js and Qs: 0.20x for three-of-a-kind, 0.40x for four, 0.75x for four, and 1.50x for five;
• Ks and As: 0.50x for three-of-a-kind, 0.50x for four, 1.50x for four, and 3x for five;

The betting range in The Big Money Wheel is slightly narrower than I hoped, spanning from €0.20 to €40. The top win is huge at 12,026x, meaning that you can win up to €481,040 in a single spin. 

Big Money Wheel Bonus Features

The Big Money Wheel boasts three bonus features, most of which are exclusive to the bonus (wheel) game. These include the Colossal Coin Re-spins, Free Spins, and the Big Money Wheel, so let me explain how they work. 

Colossal Coin Re-Spins

You’ll see numerous “small” coin symbols drop onto the playing field in the base game. These coins need the “Colossal” coin to appear on the first two reels to pay out, but before they do, you’ll get a free re-spin. Should another coin appear during the re-spin, the feature will retrigger. 

Once the sequence is done, the values listed on every coin will be summed, and the result will be multiplied by your current bet.  

Free Spins

Similar to the Re-spins feature, the only way to trigger free spins is to land a “Big Money Wheel” colossal scatter on the first two reels.

Despite how the scatter is named, the game will take you to a square-shaped field where a hold & win-like round will take place. You’ll receive 3 refillable re-spins, and only coins and mystery symbols can appear on the new 6x4 playing field. Whenever a new coin or mystery symbol appears in a previously unoccupied position, the re-spin counter goes back to 3. 

This round ends when you either run out of free spins or the entire field is filled with coins/mystery symbols, after which the “Big Money Wheel” round starts. 

Big Money Wheel

The second phase of the bonus round is where this game takes its name from. A Big Money Wheel will feature an array of prizes, including double, triple, or multipliers of up to 1,000x. If you draw “Double” or “Triple”, any mystery symbols you’ve collected will be initially multiplied by 2x or 3x, and the wheel will spin again to determine the final multiplier that will be applied to all mystery symbols. 

How to Win at Big Money Wheel

All symbols in the Big Money Wheel pay from left to right. There are no paylines, so winning combinations are made as long as three or more symbols of the same kind are present in an uninterrupted line regardless of proximity. Coins ignore this rule and will pay instant prizes whenever a Colossal Coin is drawn.

The Big Money Wheel is a highly-volatile slot with an estimated RTP of 96.06%. That’s quite high considering that the game starts with a petite 2x2 field, but the pay-any system compensates for these inherent weaknesses. 

Final Verdict

After fully testing the Big Money Wheel, I can only conclude that it’s a fun slot purely because it’s different from most games you’ll find at online casinos. “Different” isn’t always better, and my main gripe with this slot is that small 2x2 field that dictates virtually everything - winning combinations, re-spins, and free spins.
