In Eager Beavers, every spin starts with a small “handicap” - you’ll only have a few rows (and all 6 reels) unlocked, but every win will encourage these diligent rodents to construct a few empty cells for the next tumble. 

However, beavers aren’t known for being top-class architects, so don’t expect new empty blocks to stick too long. You can convince the most proficient critters in the colony to craft more durable cells by giving them three delicious scatters. 

Various bonus symbols can encourage beavers to be more productive. They’re constantly hungry, so they’ll try to fish in the river to grant you a Splashing Wild bonus, or collect falling logs to help you secure wins more easily.

Symbols & Payouts

The Eager Beavers family consists of four quirky beavers, four fruits, and four minor symbols, leaving us with 12 paying symbols. On paper, their payout rates are far below the industry’s average, but every win can potentially lead to much larger wins thanks to the expanding grid:

• Js, Qs, Ks, and As: 0.10x for three-of-a-kind, 0.20x for four, 0.30x for five, 0.40x for six;
• Cherries, Pears, Oranges, and Apples: 0.20x for three-of-a-kind, 0.30x for four, 0.40x for five, 0.50x for six;

Eager Beavers Bonus Features

There are two types of special bonuses in Eager Beavers - the first revolves around Wilds, and the second brings new gameplay elements to the Bonus Round. These include Splashing Wilds, Falling Wilds, Wild Rapids, and a unique Cash Bonus that operates on a unique “filling” principle (rather than giving you free spins), so let’s cover them all. 

Splashing Wilds & Falling Wilds

The “Fish” symbols are the Splashing Wilds. They may randomly activate with any spin and will choose a random paying symbol from the current playing field; all selected symbols will morph into Wilds, and then the wins will be calculated. 

Falling Wilds may only land on top of the tallest row in the current spin. Falling Wilds may appear as stacks, fall in multiple random places, or be drawn as an individual symbol - in all cases, they act as regular wilds. 

Wild Rapids

From a technical standpoint, Wild Rapids is just an upgrade of the Falling Wilds. These features have similar functions in that they can be randomly triggered and can only fall on the top reel of the playing grid. 

What’s different about Wild Rapids is that this counts as a separate event, so it may coincide with Splashing Wilds, Falling Wilds, or both.

Cash Bonus Game

One of the most unique bonus rounds I’ve played recently is the Cash Bonus Game in Eager Beavers. To trigger this feature, you’ll only need to collect 3 scatters anywhere on the table. 

After the tumbling sequence where 3 scatters were drawn ends, the Bonus Game will use the last cell configuration to begin the bonus. During this time, cash and special bonus symbols will slowly fall to populate each empty cell as soon as you tap the “Spin” button. 

Cash symbols are instant prizes with possible values of 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 15,x 15x, and 100x. Additionally, you may encounter the following modifiers:

• Collect Symbol: This feature will collect the values of all cash symbols in its reel, emptying the cells of collected symbols to give you more room for new ones. 

• Super Collect: Works the same as “Collect”, but collects all symbols. 

• Upgrade: Increases the values of all prizes in its reel by a random multiplier.

• Super Upgrade: Upgrades the values of all visible prizes by a random multiplier. 

• Build: Increases the size of the reel it is drawn on by +1. 
• Super Build: Increases the size of all reels by +1. 

In a nutshell, collected symbols merge into one, and built blocks appear as empty cells, so almost all of these bonus features give you space for additional prize symbols. The bonus round ends when each block is filled with a prize.

Bet+ 

The “Bet+” system consists of three togglable features that enhance the cost of your wager and the likelihood of entering the bonus round. 

The Bonus Boost makes your bets cost 1.30x but doubles the hit frequency of scatters; Bonus Boost Plus makes each wager cost 2.20x, but the hit frequency soars by 5x. Finally, the Bonus Boost Ultra costs 3.50x per spin, but the likelihood of drawing scatters is increased tenfold. 

How to Win at Eager Beavers

Eager Beavers can give you up to 1 million ways to win, but the number of paylines depends on which spots are unlocked. 

Namely, every spin will yield a different “starting” playing field, meaning that a random number of symbols will drop to fill the rows (the first is guaranteed to be complete). After that, you’ll have to connect at least 3 symbols of the same kind to win and unlock additional room in adjacent spaces.

Since reels can grow up to 10 spaces in height, only the longest winning combinations on adjacent reels will be paid if you happen to have multiple combos running simultaneously. 

Eager Beavers RTP & Volatility

Three random triggers, unlockable cells, a random starting field layout, and a total of 12 paying symbols are just some of the reasons why Eager Beavers is a highly volatile slot game. 

Its theoretical RTP is an unimpressive 94.29%, although the game can be so generous at times that I initially thought the score was much higher. 

Final Verdict

I remember Ruby Play releasing its famed “Immortal Ways” Megaways slots and the first quantum leap from 243 to 10,000 betways. We’ll soon witness another quantum leap in the iGaming world, as Thunderkick has pushed the limit to a whopping 1 million. 

That was enough to entice me into trying this slot, but what truly amazed me was the “building” mechanic that perfectly fits the theme of beavers constructing a dam. The unique Cash Bonus Game is equally innovative, transcending the concepts of free spins in a “play-until-it’s-full” fashion.
