The Fortune Gems Slot Game

Fortune Gems is a 3-reel slot with 3 rows and 5 paylines. I’m deliberately “not” counting the multiplier reel since it’s an extra feature that simply interacts but is not a part of the playing grid. 

Based on the tribal aesthetics of Fortune Gems, the theme was inspired by ancient civilizations. It reminded me of Fortunes of Aztec by Pragmatic Play, although the two couldn’t be any more different in terms of gameplay and bonus features. 

I can’t remember having so much fun with any 3-reel slot, and I can almost guarantee that all fans of simplistic games will agree with me. The Wilds play a key role in this game as they’ll practically make you forget that you have only five ways of winning.

Symbols and Payouts

Fortune Gems has four minor symbols that resemble the ones you’ll find in most classic slot games - J, Q, K, and A. On top of that, there are three major symbols, including gems in different colors. What’s important to remember is that each symbol has a different payout: 

• J: $0.40 for three-of-a-kind
• Q: $1.00 for three-of-a-kind
• K: $1.60 for three-of-a-kind
• A: $2.00 for three-of-a-kind
• Green Crystal: $2.40 for three-of-a-kind
• Blue Crystal: $3.00 for three-of-a-kind
• Red Crystal: $4.00 for three-of-a-kind

The betting range starts ultra-small at just $0.10 while the highest wager you can place is $100. The top win is a modest 375x of your current bet, which means you’ll be able to get up to $37,500 per spin at the highest bet. 

Fortune Gems Bonus Features

If I were to compare Fortune Gems to all-time classics like Betsoft’s Mega Gems or Pragmatic’s Gems Bonanza, I’d have to describe it as a game equipped with “humble” bonus features. 

However, it’s my favorite 3-reel slot launched in 2023 mainly because it has a few cool mechanics you won’t find in many games of this type. These include the Multiplier Reel, Wilds, and Extra Bets.

Multiplier Reel

In most slot games, you can potentially get a multiplier spot, or even an entire reel if certain conditions are met. In TaDaGaming Fortune Gems, you’re guaranteed a multiplier on every win since there’s an entire reel dedicated to it. 

The 4th column on the playing grid can only roll multiplier numbers from 1x to 15x. A golden frame will highlight the one that will enhance your winnings, so pray it’s not a dud (1x). 

Wilds

The vast majority of slot games feature symbols that substitute for all paying symbols, so you might be wondering why I’m singling out Wilds as a bonus feature in Fortune Gems. The answer is quite simple - wilds aren’t supposed to be featured in 3-reel slots since wins are supposed to be rare but massive.

On top of having regular wilds, this game will occasionally throw stacked wilds your way. Since the playing field is as small as 3x3, you’re virtually guaranteed a win (with a multiplier) whenever this happens. 

Extra Bets

Let’s suppose your luck isn’t the brightest today, and that you keep rolling 1x multipliers on the bonus reel. TaDaGaming knew this was a possibility so they’ve added a special feature that will eliminate all “duds” from the picture.

Enter, Extra Bets Feature - this is a togglable function that will increase the cost of your wagers by 50%, but besides removing all 1x multipliers, it will also drastically improve the drop rate of major symbols (gems). 

How to Win at Fortune Gems

Fortune Gems is played on a 3x3 grid with 5 ways to win. This includes three horizontal lines (one on each row), and two diagonal lines intersecting at the center. 

A winning combination can only be reached in two ways - you’ll either need to string three symbols of the same kind on an active payline or have two-of-a-kind connect with a Wild symbol. 

Fortune Gems Slot RTP & Volatility

TaDaGaming has not released its official RTP score for Fortune Gems yet. However, I’ve been testing games from this developer for several months now and can confirm that most of their games boast a return-to-player percentage floating between 95% and 97%; my most recent demos were consistent enough to confirm Fortune Gems falls under the same category. 

As for its volatility rating, the manufacturer states Fortune Gems is a low-medium volatility slot. 

Final Verdict

If you’re into simple slots that consistently pay well, you’ll adore Fortune Gems by TaDaGaming. Every win you score is guaranteed a multiplier at the end of the spin, and even though you won’t get any free spins or bonus wheels, the minimalistic features of this game are easy to get hooked on.
