Montezuma Slot Review

It’s a good time to visit the Aztec Empire at the time when one of the mightiest rulers of this empire was in charge.

How to play

There are 5 reels and 3 rows per reel in the Montezuma slot. The number of paylines is slightly higher than usual though – 30 paylines. By pressing the orange play button under the reels, you will start playing this game. Before that, you can choose the size of your bet. The size of the line bet is between €0.01 and €2. In other words, the maximum total bet that players can use per spin is €60. As expected, there are a few other values between the upper and lower limit.

On the main screen, you can find an Auto-play feature too. You can trigger up to 200 auto-play spins in this way. Players can set loss and win limits if they want to. For additional information about the paytable and bonuses, you can click the three white lines in the lower-left corner.

Symbols and payouts

There’s a relatively high number of standard symbols in the Montezuma video slot. The payout table contains ten standard symbols. In the lower part of the table, there are playing card icons. One must land at least three matching ones on a line to win a reward. There are four playing card icons from Jack to Ace and they all promise the same rewards – 5, 20, or 50 times your line bet for three, four, or five matching playing cards on a line respectively.

In the upper part of the table, you will find a serpent, a golden mask, a warbonnet, a falcon, a queen, and Montezuma himself. The lowest paying among them are the golden mask and the serpent. Whenever you land five matching icons like this on a payline, you will get 100 times the line bet. Of course, the most important symbol on this list is Montezuma. He pays 2, 20, 75, or 300 times your line bet for two, three, four, or five of them on a single payline respectively. Don’t forget that the decorated shield (scatter) is a paying symbol too – it delivers 10 times your total bet for 5 shields on any position.

Best Montezuma bonus feature

You won’t find many Montezuma bonus features. In fact, there’s just one special feature and two special symbols here. We are talking about a Montezuma free spins mode. To activate it, you will have to land three or more scatter icons anywhere on the reels. Once you do that, you will get a chance to spin a wheel that will determine the number of free spins (up to 25 free spins). Before each free spin, a wheel spins right above the reels and reveals a win multiplier.

The Aztec temple/pyramid is a wild icon. It counts as any standard symbol to help players complete winning combinations. It appears on the middle three reels only. What’s interesting is that any bonus feature ending with less than 10 times your total bet will be increased to 10 times your total at the end of the feature. This is a bonus guarantee feature that promises decent returns even when players didn’t have much luck during free spins.

RTP & Volatility

As for the Montezuma RTP, you will find the Return to Player percentage decent – 95.86%. That’s around the standard set in this industry. It’s also good to know that this is a medium to high volatility slot game. You should expect fair win amounts and relatively frequent wins.
