Nitropolis 5 happens at night, in the heart of the futuristic city. Presumably, it’s when the wicked Seargent least expects an ambush. Everything looks calm initially, but chaos erupts, and the tempo increases when you enter the bonus game.

Symbols and Payouts

Each of the 6 spinning reels in this game has 4 rows and 12 basic-paying symbols. Most symbols are thematic, cementing the game’s ambient trait.

The regular symbols in Nitropolis 5 are in three classes. The low-paying level includes the traditional Jack, Queen, King, and Ace signs. They pay 0.1x, 0.15x, 0.2x, and 0.25x the bet for 3 to 6 of the same.

They are followed closely by the medium-paying Rogue Rats, Pug Thugs, Gritty Kitty, and Dirty Dawgs badges worth 0.15x, 0.2x, 0.25x, and 0.3x stake for 3-6 OAK. Then, their corresponding characters complete the high-paying tier as follows:

• Rat - 0.3x, 0.5x, 0.75x, and 1x bet.

• Pug - 0.5x, 0.75x, 1x, and 1.25x stake.

Avalanche

Every symbol in the current win, except the NPD Holding Cell feature wins, explodes after wins are collected, except for the Nitro wins. The remaining symbols drop to a resting position, and a new row appears at the top.

Then, new symbols fill the empty spaces, and this process continues until no more winning combos appear. Every additional symbol drop adds a new row to a maximum of 8, increasing the ways to win.   

Nitro Reels

These cover two symbol positions with 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 identical 1x1 payout symbols. But a bigger Nitro Reel occupies six positions, having 2 to 6 matching 2x2 symbols. If a Nitro Reel has a Super Bonus, it’s counted as an individual 1x1 symbol regardless of the size indicator.

Big Symbols

The wild and all regular symbols in Nitropolis 5 exist in standard 1x1, super 2x2, or mega 3x3 sizes. All the big symbols consist of the number of 1x1 symbol instances it covers. Also, identical 1x1-sized symbols fill the empty positions below big symbols and big Nitro Reels.

Nitro Multiplier

A blocker may appear in a Nitro Reel holding even multipliers from 4x to 12x, multiplying all wins, while several are multiplicative. A Nitro Multiplier is also counted as one 1x1 symbol regardless of the Nitro Reel’s size indicator.

Nitro Reels and Nitro Multipliers participating in a win remain and re-spin during the symbol refill.  

NPD Holding Cell Feature

It triggers randomly during a free spin, re-spin, or regular spin. The game automatically selects a random symbol type. If it’s part of a win, all its instances remain alongside Nitro Multipliers and Bonus symbols during re-spin, which also expands the primary reels.

The cycle continues as long as more symbols of the picked type contribute to the cell’s paying sequence or if another NPD Holding Cell feature starts. Then, the feature ends and the locked symbols pay if they generate a win.

Nitro Booster

This feature includes three flippers that may trigger features before or after the main reels stop and after win evaluations. Six Nitro Boosters affect the main reels, while five affect the Nitro Reels, as follows:

• Max Rows - makes the reels grow up to 8 rows high.
• Both Ways - all the subsequent ways pay from the leftmost and rightmost columns.
• NPD Polic Report - Dirty Dawgs replace random high-value symbols with the Dirty Dawgs high-value symbol type. Gritty Kitty picks any symbol for scatter pay evaluation. Pug Thugs transfers a random Nitro Reel to extend or create an existing win. Rogue Rats adds a random number of Nitro Reels to the primary grid.
• Respin activates during a non-winning spin, whereby the Bonus symbols, wilds, Nitro Multiplier, and Nitro reels remain sticky.
• Nitro Wild - occupies all Nitro Reels below it with wilds.
• Nitro Upgrade - expands the ways and size indicator of all Nitro Reels below it.
• Nitro Match - fills every Nitro Reel below it with an icon on the same column as the Nitro Reel or an adjacent reel to potentially create a win.
• Boss Battle - triggered at the end of the ongoing game by 3 Boss Battle coins. It temporarily replaces the Nitro Booster with a new 7x8 grid, having coin values, MAX WIN, or empty spaces. A coin is collected every time you hit it, and the shots reset to three.

Free Spins

When 3 to 6 bonus symbols land in the Nitropolis 5 base game, they trigger 8, 12, 16, and 20 free spins, respectively. However, if one of the triggering symbols is a Super Bonus symbol (only appears in a Nitro Reel), it’ll trigger the Super Bonus. All the Nitro Reels remain sticky during the free spins.   

The Max Rows and Both Ways become deactivated if active when you trigger the bonus mode. However, they remain active during the Super Bonus, and the NPD Holding Cell triggers per spin.

The free spins start with a 4-row safety level, and every winning free spin advances the level by a row up to 8 rows. The Nitro Reels and Big Nitro Reels may advance the safety level by several rows at once if stacked above the level that a regular win offers. 3+ Bonus symbols during the feature add more free spins similar to those triggered initially.

You may understand some if you’re an ELK Studios fan, but most may feel twisty until you try them.

I applaud this developer for taking the time to develop all the unique features. However, my main concern was how quickly players would understand some of the bonuses comparable to astrionics.

The 50,000x bet top prize is quite substantive. But I still think it could have been more, considering the generosity of the game’s bonuses. Regardless, at least there’s no doubt about whether one could reach the win cap. So, with all factors taken into account, this game has a lot of goodies to provide you with one of the best online gambling experiences!
