Dragon mythologies often depict the monsters as having exceptional eyesight, an ultra-keen sense of smell, and excellent hearing. So, although clever, I couldn’t help but question Pragmatic Play’s idea of a Sleeping Dragon. But I’m not here to criticise the subject’s ideology.

This video slot adds to this developer’s catalogue of unoriginal themes and designs. It features a humongous red dragon sleeping graciously on its pile of treasure, consisting of gems and gold coins. Without question, it’s similar to other mythical dragon-themed slots created over the years.

The dragon awakens occasionally and spits fire onto the reels, for instance, during the free spins. Like in Fiesta Fortune, the 5x3 reels appear in the middle, flanked by the buy options and the bonus prizes at the top. Meanwhile, the control panel is placed below the gameboard.

Symbols and Payouts

Going for the dragon-secured treasures would require you to arm yourself. As such, expect the swords, shields, and full armour to be part of the nine-symbol paytable.

The Final Thoughts

Not to be biased. But there was a time when a Pragmatic Play slot would get my senses tingling with excitement because of the outstanding standards the company had set. Nowadays, I’m calmer than excited since this studio’s releases are more of repeated experiences than original ones.

The Sleeping Dragon had a generic design popular with most games of its kind, like Dragon’s Domain. Moreover, the gameplay wasn’t original either. In fact, having reviewed Fiesta Fortune immediately before, I noted some similarities, including the number of symbols required to complete a win, the betting range, and a relatively similar respin feature.

However, to be fair, this game had differences too. First, the free spins had giant symbols that elevated the respin bonus action. Second, the bonus prizes were significantly higher than those in Fiesta Fortune. Lastly, the win cap here was thrice that of the compared slot. So, even if you played the Mexican party-themed slots, there is still a lot of goodness to pick from this release!
