The Sword Stomp Slot Game

Authentic pieces of Norse mythos meshed with gorgeous shieldmaiden designs bring this game to life. I’m a bit puzzled by who the main character is supposed to be since the big guy is carrying an even bigger sword; he’s not using Gungnir, so it’s not Odin, and the beard tells us it’s not Freyr.

I also loved the gorgeous ambient music, which is neither too aggressive nor too tranquil for a Viking tune.

Symbols & Payouts

Sword Stomp features eight paying symbols, including four card-inspired ones (clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades) and four Viking-inspired ones. Excluding minor symbols, the pay rates are a bit higher than average, so let’s take a look:

  • Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts, and Spades: 0.10x for three-of-a-kind, 0.50x for four, 1x for five;
  • Axes and Ravens: 0.50x for three-of-a-kind, 2.50x for four, 5x for five;
  • Werewolves: 1x for three-of-a-kind, 5x for four, 10x for five;
  • Shieldmaiden: 2x for three-of-a-kind, 10x for four, 20x for five;
  • Wilds: 20x for five

There aren’t many video slots that are equally suited for low and high rollers, yet Sword Stomp perfectly caters to both groups with a wagering range of €0.10 to €2,000. The top win of this game is 10,000x, meaning that you can win up to €200,000 per spin.

Sword Stomp Bonus Features

It would be very difficult to win in a slot as volatile as Sword Stomp were it not for the elusive but generous bonus features it comes supplied with.

This slot features expanding wilds with multipliers portraying a hulking warrior stomping the ground with his sword (hence the name); this trigger becomes sticky during free spins, which are purchasable, albeit at a steep price. Let me elaborate on how the bonus features of Sword Stomp work.

Expanding Wilds with Multipliers

The main bonus mechanism of Sword Stomp is a wild symbol that substitutes for all non-bonus and non-wild symbols. It will always expand to cover the entire reel if it can connect any winning combination. Whenever this happens, the wild will assume a multiplier value ranging from 1x to 100x.

Free Spins

The premise of the Free Spins round in Sword Stomp is quite common in the iGaming world. You need to draw 3 “Bonus” scatters, and then you’ll receive 10 free spins during which Wilds with Multipliers will become sticky. As with most high-volatility slots, Bonus scatters can only appear in reels 1, 3, and 5.

What’s different than usual is that Wilds in this slot always expand to cover the entire reel, and “all” Wilds you draw will become sticky.

Another interesting feature of this bonus mechanic is that Wilds will now change their multipliers every round. If you’re worried that your Viking only gave you a 1-2x multiplier on a table filled with Ravens, don’t worry - he might stomp the ground for a 50-100x multiplier on your next spin.

Buy Bonus

Scatters in Sword Stomp have a relatively poor hit frequency since they can exclusively appear in reels 1, 3, and 5. If you’re eager to test your luck with changing, expanding, sticky Wild multipliers, you can purchase this bonus by tapping “Buy Feature”.

What I dislike about the Buy Bonus is that it costs 100x of the current bet. Even though the Free Spins round can be good, Wilds are not guaranteed to have “good” multipliers to cover the initial cost.

How to Win at Sword Stomp

Sword Stomp is a 10-line game with fixed betways. All symbols pay exclusively in threes of the same suit from left to right.

Sword Stomp Slot RTP & Volatility

There are high-volatility slots, and then there’s Sword Stomp. This game is extremely unpredictable, as it can net you a small fortune when the Wilds blow up, or eat your balance with empty hands. Although winning isn’t overly consistent in the short term, its returns are very generous with an RTP of 96%.

Final Verdict

I love “high risk, high reward” slots to a degree, but Sword Stomp made me change the way I perceived slot volatility. I almost gave up all hope after dozens of blank spins, but then a Viking connected two rows of werewolves and multiplied my winnings by a whopping 25x.

Given that it has a good RTP score and tremendous “comeback” potential, I can recommend MaxWin Gaming’s Sword Stomp, but I must add that it’s not overly innovative in any field. Use our links to give it a shot for free before diving into real money play.
