In this case, Tanked doesn’t mean drinking heavily, filling a vehicle’s tank with fuel, or failing completely. Instead, Nolimit City derived it from a military tank vehicle used in wars. As alluded to earlier, remember the gameplay revolves around four warlords going after each other. Considering it’s a kill-or-be-killed world, each has to unleash their best machinery to gain power.

According to the developer’s description, sabotage and explosions are the only guarantees in this game. The backdrop is an aerial view of a war-torn location, while the soundtrack includes a hard-rock melody and other immersive effects.

Symbols and Payouts

This video slot has a default 6-reel gameboard with a 4x6x6x6x6x4 layout. But it can expand whenever a Rocket hits the wall, as I’ll show you further below.

By the way, the gameplay follows after ELK’s Pirots, especially with its CollectR-like winning technique. It works by having the four warlords pick up symbols of the same colour using an xLoot technique.    

Your aim should be on the four coloured shapes randomly landing on the reels after a successful spin. You win in Tanked when a moving character lands adjacent to symbols corresponding with its colour.    

They include Blue, Turquoise, Green, and Red shapes. Their payouts are 0.05x for the first two per the listing, 0.1x, and 0.15x the bet for the remaining two, respectively.

Multipliers

After all possible collections, more symbols will drop into the empty positions. Furthermore, any character can pick up multipliers and apply them to all wins. These multipliers are additive.

Tank Boosters

The characters in Tanked can also pick the following different Tank Boosters:

• Rocket - shoots the wall close to any random enemy character. The explosion removes all enemy characters and payout symbols in the explosion pattern, increasing the grid size by a step.
• Grenade - a character aims a grenade at a random enemy character. The explosion removes all paying symbols in the explosion pattern.
• Power Drill - the character with a Power Drill drives to the largest cluster on the grid, matching the character’s colour. It removes all the enemy characters, payout symbols, and wilds in its path, picking up Tank Boosters, multipliers, and bonus symbols. However, it doesn’t affect the xBomb, MAXWIN, and Barrel Bomb symbols. Further, if the character can’t move, it explodes, removing all the paying symbols in the explosion pattern.
• Airstrike - the character strikes up to 3 enemy characters, creating an explosion pattern.

Any character removed by the above Tank Boosters loses a life but reappears when new symbols drop in. If the impacted enemy character collected a Tank Booster before the explosion, it stays with it in the next drop. The explosion doesn’t affect the xSplit, xNudge, bonus, and wild symbols.

xBomb & Barrel Bomb

They only explode if no character moves, and no Tank Boosters are available on the Tanked reels. Both of them remove all paying symbols in the explosion pattern. However, the xBomb increases the overall multiplier by +1x, while the Barrel Bomb expands the grid vertically or horizontally by a step.

Booms

A small boom happens when 3 characters are adjacent, but none can move. The characters then explode, removing all paying symbols and characters in the explosion area. Meanwhile, the big boom occurs when 4 characters are adjacent, but none can move. Then, the characters explode, remove all paying symbols on the reels, and increase the grid size by a step.

Kill Count

A character loses a life in an explosion range of any Tank Booster, xBomb, Barrel Bomb, or Boom. After losing 3 lives, it’s regarded as killed, removing it from the reels alongside all the corresponding symbols. But it resurrects after the subsequent evaluation.

xNudge Wild & xSplit

The xNudge Wild nudges down to the bottom of the Tanked reels or until it hits a non-paying symbol. If there’s no multiplier when the xNudge appears, it will set the multiplier to 2x. The xNudge then increases the multiplier by +1x for every nudge. Any more xNudge Wilds will add a +1 multiplier.

Then, the xSplit splits all the winning symbols vertically or horizontally, doubling their sizes before converting itself into a wild. It also doubles any multiplier that it hits.

Grid Expansion & Max Expansion

The grid expands by a step whenever a Rocket hits the wall, a Barrel Bomb self-trigger or a Big Boom is triggered. The expansion can happen in four steps, as follows:

• Step 1: The grid expands from 6x6 to 8x6 or 6x8 for horizontal or vertical expansion, respectively.

• Step 2: The grid expands from 6x8 or 8x6 to 8x8 for horizontal or vertical expansion, respectively.

• Step 3: The grid expands from 8x8 to 9x8 or 8x9 for horizontal or vertical expansion, respectively.

• Step 4 - the grid expands from 9x8 or 8x9 to 9x9 for horizontal or vertical expansion.

However, if the xBomb or Barrel Bomb are in the expansion pattern of any Tank Booster, they expand the grid directly to 9x9!

Carnage Spins & Carnage Royale

Hit 3 bonus symbols for 5 Carnage Spins, where the multipliers, Kill count, and grid size spill from the Tanked base game.

Meanwhile, 4 bonus symbols trigger 7 Carnage Royale, where the Kill count spills from the base game. Further, the grid becomes 9x9, and a +5 multiplier, besides the current multiplier, will spill from the base game.

If all characters die in the same explosion, the free spins upgrade to Mayhem Spins. The rest of the spins play in upgraded bonus mode.

Mayhem Spins

These spins start after all characters lose their 3 lives in the same explosion. The grid starts as a 9x9 configuration with a +10 multiplier beside the current one from the base game. All the characters’ lives are set to 1 during these spins.

It’s possible to retrigger the Mayhem Spins if all characters die in an explosion, awarding a +1 extra spin and a +10 multiplier.       

Nolimit Boosters & Buy Bonus

Tanked offers the following boosters:

• For 3x bet, you’re 4 times more likely to activate the bonus modes.

• For 40x stake, 4 random Tank Boosters will be randomly distributed to characters.

Further, you can buy into several features, as follows:

How to Win at Tanked Slot

The 6x6 grid can expand to 9x9. However, instead of paylines, ways, clusters, or scatter-paying, a moving character will pick up symbols of the same colour in what the developer calls an xLoot technique.

Meanwhile, the Tanked bets range from €0.20 to €100.

However, once you are aware of how the features are triggered and played, you will have unmatched fun accompanied by a solid potential to win significantly. In fact, the win cap stands at a lucrative 25,000 times the stake, which is impressive!

So, while NLC may have effed players over with a copied winning technique, the company did it so subtly by compensating the atrocity with dynamic and potent features. In short, if the megaways engine that BTG started is now overused, what stops NLC from adopting an exciting technique from its competitor?
