The Dark Art Slot Review

The Dark Arts are many and varied and include the brewing of dastardly potions for nefarious ends! You can uncover the secrets of potion making and alchemy in The Dark Art - a NetGaming Slot.

How to play

Like other NetGaming slots, The Dark Art slot is easy to play and has 20 fixed paylines. The free spin bonus rounds detailed below, however, have 25 paylines. This mysterious slot also has a simple 5x3 reel layout.

The min/max bet values are €0.20 and €50.00 respectively. You can only change the coin value from 0.01 to 2.50 which is then multiplied by a fixed value of 20 coins to get the total bet value.

The Dark Art also works fine on any device including smartphones and tablets. If you want to play with minimal effort, there is also an autoplay feature. You can choose up to 100 automatic spins, and select both a win limit or loss limit.

Symbols and payouts

When playing The Dark Art, you have 7 symbols in the standard paytable. These are a blue swirl, a red flame, a green leaf, a white swirl, a blue potion, a green potion, and a red potion. The different colored elemental symbols are the lower-tier options and have a maximum multiplier of 200x for 5x symbols based on the coin value.

Alternatively, the three potions offer the highest payouts. 5x of the blue potion gives a 300x multiplier, whilst 5x of the green potion gives a 500x multiplier. Finally, the red potion offers the highest payout in the game of 1000x for 5x symbols based on the coin value.

There is also a wild symbol which is a shining precious crystal. This wild symbol can appear on any reel, and substitutes for anything except the scatter symbol.

Best The Dark Art bonus feature

The best Dark Art bonus feature is the Gravalanche feature. This is essentially a cascading reel system, however, it also has additional features. Any winning combo triggers the Gravalanche. This explodes all winning symbols, and new symbols fall into place.

A second micro-round then begins with new chances to win. This continues until there are no more winning combos. If you win a micro round, you increase the Gravalanche level by 1 to a maximum of 6. Each level gives a bonus:

  • Level 0: no bonus.
  • Level 1: All wins except scatter wins are multiplied by 2x.
  • Level 2 - Red potion symbol acts as a wild symbol.
  • Level 3 - All wins except scatter wins are multiplied by 3x.
  • Level 4: If no winning combo, a random symbol will explode to drop more symbols.
  • Level 5: All wins except scatter wins are multiplied by 5x.
  • Level 6: If there is a potential for an all reel win, one symbol is selected to complete the win.

Aside from this, you can also win 10 Dark Art free spins. These are awarded by getting 3 or more scatter symbols. During the free spins, the reel layout changes to 5x4, and there are 25 paylines. Also, the bet value is used that was active when the free spins were won.

RTP & volatility

The Dark Art RTP is variable and ranges from a low RTP of 92.02%, up to a maximum RTP of 98.15%. This variable RTP is due to the gravalanche feature. NetGaming has also classified this slot as being medium volatility. As a result, you can expect to win semi-often, and have some larger jackpot prizes thrown in for good measure.
