Big Time Gaming hasn’t been among the proactive game developers, not even after being purchased by Evolution Gaming, as its counterparts NetEnt and Red Tiger Gaming have been.

🛑 Hold up! I’m not about to review this game without you getting a feel for it. As such, ensure you follow along using the slot’s free demo linked to this page!
I’m unsure whether Big Time Gaming set this game in an extra-terrestrial world or on Earth since the critters look weird. But from the look of things, Trigger Happy happens inside an arcade gaming place. You know, the retro establishments where you slipped a coin into a machine, hoping to have fun or win.
An electric melody lights up the mood in correspondence with the celebratory mood depicted by balloons and lit-up machines. Even the structure housing the 5x5 gameboard takes after an arcade machine.
So, you should appreciate this particular game if you’re into classic-designed games.
For the record, it’s built with HTML5, meaning it’s compatible with mobile and desktop devices.
As mentioned, this game doesn’t adopt the megaways engine with randomly changing rows. Instead, it uses a cluster pays system.
The regular symbols consist of seven goofy and fluffy emoticons distinguished by their colors. As you already know, they form wins based on 5+ adjacent matching symbols that form clusters horizontally or vertically.
Also worth noting is that all the payouts in Trigger Happy are multiplied by the stake.
The symbols include:
Each winning symbol disappears after a payout and becomes replaced by new symbols from above in a cascading reaction. The reactions continue until no more wins occur.
Players have a myriad number of features worth exploring in this video slot. They include but aren’t limited to Bonus Panels, free spins, Win Exchange™, and bonus buy.
Trigger Happy also has a wild represented by a multi-colored square critter, which is unusual for cluster slots. A target places the wild in a random position in every spin and reaction. Their function is to substitute for all symbols!
This game has vertical and horizontal bonus panels. In every spin and reaction, both panels may reveal the following:
Two targets appear during the free spins, each adding a wild at different Trigger Happy reel positions. Aligning a target’s final position with a Trigger Coin in both panels awards +3 additional free spins. And the retrigger can happen severally in a reaction sequence.
However, aligning the final position of both targets with Trigger Coins awards +6 extra free spins. The panel multipliers can reach x10 during this feature.
When you win at least 100 times the stake, you can keep it or exchange it for 8 free spins. Also, when you win 25-100 times the bet, you can keep the amount or gamble it for a chance to win 8 free rounds—however, an unsuccessful gamble results in not being awarded free spins.
The bonus buy button lets you access the buy menu, where you can buy 8 free spins for 100 times the stake! However, this feature may be limited or unavailable in some jurisdictions.
Although Big Time Gaming shifted to the cluster pays mechanism, nothing about the game felt complex—maybe some of the features, but initially.
The arcade action happens on a 5 by 5 platform, while two Boneu Panels are attached to the reels on the left and bottom sides. Here, wins happen when at least 5 matching symbols form horizontal or vertical clusters.
Start a single Trigger Happy game round using the green Play button or several continuous spins using the Autoplay function. However, remember to select a bet between the €0.20 and €20 range first.
It’s worth mentioning that you can limit the Autoplay using the loss and win thresholds. Meanwhile, the Pays, Sound, and Help options are reachable through the Menu button.
The classified RTP for this game is 96.58%, and the top win is a staggering 50,000x stake! However, the developer has kept its volatility anonymous.
I went into this game hoping to play a megaways slot, as is the nature of Big Time Gaming releases. However, as every day isn’t the weekend, I met a cluster pays engine instead. To be honest, I was appealed because it was an unexpected change, and the cluster engine was better off than using the pay ways or paylines.
Among the exciting things about Trigger Happy is how appealing its visuals were. It made me reminisce about the ‘Toonz’ series from Play’n GO. But on a playfully elevated end.
Although the mechanics and features aren’t anything unheard of, they’re still quite engaging. Even better, they could lead you to win up to 50,000x stake! You should only be cautious about its shallow betting range and some confusing features at first sight.
I'll update this review once I have the missing official volatility details. So, I urge you to check it frequently for timely updates.
