Since its launch in 2015, PG Soft has been dishing out Musical, Fantasy, and Safari-themed slots, catering to its audiences with tried & tested visuals and rarely dipping its toes into uncharted waters.

I love Megaways slots as each spin feels different from the next. Wild Ape #3258 rocks 32,400 potential winlines, three bonus features, and the most exquisite of them all, the Bored Ape Wild Stack locked in the middle of the playing field.
This is the first PG Soft game with more than 30 lines, so it’s completely different from everything they’ve launched so far in terms of both theme and gameplay.
Similar to most megaways slot games, the symbols in Wild Ape will come in stacks of 1, 2, or 3 blocks. Whenever you land a win, a tumbling sequence will begin, removing the winning symbols and awarding a free respin.
Hovering over the symbols on the playing grid will reveal their payouts, so to save you the hassle of keeping the paytable open in a new tab, let me break down what you can get with a $2 wager:
The wagering range is quite good, starting at $0.60 and going all the way up to $180. Wild Ape’s top win is 10,000x, which translates to a $1,800,000 maximum payout at the highest wager.
Even though PG Soft’s Wild Ape slot doesn’t have any progressive jackpots or the Buy Bonus feature, it has three fairly exciting bonus mechanisms that I was fairly impressed by.
Before exploring each bonus feature in more detail, here’s the TLDR version:
I must admit that it was initially hard to notice that some symbols were outlined in gold when I first tested the Wild Ape #3258 slot since the graphics are pretty vivid and colorful. However, after I got my first win, I noticed that a stack of (golden) Pizza symbols turned into an Ape. I’m not sure how Darwin would feel about it, but I was happy that I got a free tumble and one padlock down.
Further testing has shown me that it is not the playing positions that get gold-plated outlines; all symbols have a random chance of having golden borders, will turn into the wild when they’re included in a win, and will disappear after being used.
As soon as you launch Wild Ape #3258, you’ll see the animation of our protagonist, the “Bored Ape #3258” locked behind two padlocks at the center of the playfield. I guess this is meant to showcase the elusiveness of the coveted NFT the devs bought in 2022, but it’s more than just a trophy - it’s the main bonus feature of this slot.
Wild Bored Ape will remain sticky throughout the base game and will have enhanced properties when you land free spins. Each tumbling win will remove one padlock, and when both are gone, the Ape will be set loose, giving you a 3x3 Wild block with progressively increasing multipliers for every win you string later.
PG Soft kept things simple with the Free Spins feature. All you need is 4 scatters on the field, no matter how many tumbles it takes to get there, and you’ll get 10 free spins and a “wilder” Ape in the center of your screen.
The Wild Bored Ape will now instantly start at x2, and instead of boosting the global multiplier by +1 with every win, it will jump by +2.
Wild Ape #3258 can have anywhere from 256 to 32,400 paylines; the number of active lines changes with every “tumble”, not just every spin. All symbols pay in threes, which is ordinary, but I’d prefer it if the super-major ones like Crown would start paying in twos, even if it’s pocket change.
I also think that the Wild Transformation feature works in perfect harmony with the tumbling system; it helped me get plenty of respins I’d normally lose.
Based on months of testing, I can confirm that Wild Ape’s advertised RTP of 96.74% is legit and that its high volatility rating is true. There are just so many ways to win, and so many bonus mechanisms that can help you avoid almost inevitable losses.
I’m into cryptocurrencies and blockchain tech, but I dislike NFTs with a passion. It took a while to get over these grudges to fully immerse myself into this wonderful slot, and to be fair, its outstanding payouts had me bought quickly.
Wild Ape #3258 is PG Soft’s debut Meagaways title, but it doesn’t show. The game’s well-designed, looks great and plays even better. I would spend real money on it, but I also must point out that it has no Jackpots or Bonus Buy features, so keep it in mind when weighing your decision.
