I think it’s safe to assume that the murky waters in Big Bass Halloween 2 underwent filtration while the possessed fisherman received an exorcism. As such, this new Reel Kingdom and Pragmatic Play release, cloned from the Halloween creation, returns to a clean and clear underwater environment.
When loading Big Bass Boom, it takes you inside a dug-out and abandoned mine filled with flood water. It could also be a crater with a river source. Nonetheless, the gameplay still takes place underwater, with the upper section of the screen revealing the shoreline.
Like before, rising water bubbles delineate the 5 by 3 grid reels. The transparent gameboard reveals several fish swimming in the background among the underwater flora. Finally, the warm soundtrack helps bring to mind an outdoor ambience.
This new release has the same symbols that grace every other Big Bass slot. As such, expect things like the fisherman, fish, tackle boxes, truck, and tackle boxes, among others. Here, ten regular symbols can formulate winning combinations.
The symbols, alongside their paying sequences and payouts, are displayed in the paytable. So, you can always keep up with your gameplay wins whenever you’re playing. For the record, all the paytable pays dynamically change to reflect the current total stake!
Some low-paying symbols in Big Bass Boom include the 10, J, and Q, which pay 0.2x, 1x, and 5x, while the K and A award 0.2x, 2.5x, and 10x for 3+ OAK. Then, the high-paying category consists of the following:
The scatter (Hooked Fish) appears on all reels and can trigger the free spins. Meanwhile, the Fisherman Wild only appears during the bonus rounds and substitutes for all symbols except the scatter.
The Fish paying symbols also serve as money symbols with random money values from 2x to 5000x the bet at every spin. But you can only win the values during the free spins feature.
Hit 3 to 5 scatters in Big Bass Boom to trigger 10, 15, and 20 free spins, respectively. Whenever two scatters hit without the third in the base game, a random feature can bring another one onto the screen:
Before the round starts, 0 to 5 modifiers that apply to the subsequent round are randomly selected:
Every wild that hits collects all the Money values from the screen during the free spins. All the wilds that hit during the feature are also collected.
Every 4th wild collected retriggers +10 more free spins, and the money symbol collection multiplier increases to 2x, 3x, and 10x, respectively, for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th levels. The multiplier applies to the retriggered Big Bass Boom spins, which cannot retrigger anymore after the 4th level.
Randomly, when the fisherman symbols are on screen without the fish, the latter can appear at the end of a bonus round through the Dynamite Spin feature. Alternatively, a Bazooka Animation can change all the symbols except for the fisherman into something else.
Also, when there are fish, but no fisherman, a Hook can randomly pull a reel up at the end of a free spin to bring fishermen on screen.
You can enter the free spins immediately from the base game after buying it for 100x the bet. When purchasing the free spins on the triggering spin, 3-5 scatters can hit randomly.
Separated by the bubbles are 5 reels, holding 5 rows each. And nestled between them are 10 fixed paylines, which you win on, beginning from the outermost left side to the right.
The winning process is similar to other online slots with similar setups. Simply ignite the reels, hoping that a certain number of matching symbols, as seen above, will align along the predefined paylines.
Like most slots from the series, Big Bass Boom can award up to 5,000 times your stake. But don’t be greedy and wager out of your playing budget since the bets range from €0.10 to €250!
You start a single round after pushing the Spin button (with a crowned chimp). And several auto-spins using the Autoplay feature. Also, you can increase the spin speeds using the Turbo and Quickspin options.
The 97.79% theoretical RTP is substantial and will attract players who appreciate the slot’s stats. Better still, it rises to 98% when using the buy option. However, beware of its high volatility!
I always refrain from being too brutal with my final verdict. But I don’t think Reel Kingdom and Pragmatic Play leave me a choice, primarily when they repeatedly serve the same old meal but with a different dish name. Honestly, y’all aren’t sneaky!
The Big Bass series, which started as an exciting fishing adventure, is becoming more boring by the day. Simply, subsequent instalments don’t have new features or mechanics that may make enthusiasts look forward to them. For instance, ELK Studios’ Nitropolis franchise included newer experiences with every instalment, making it among my favourites.
On the other hand, Big Bass Boom offers the same old free spins with money collection seen in almost all the Big Bass releases. As mentioned, the only difference between this game and Big Bass Halloween 2 and Big Bass Splash is the RTP only. I’m unsure how other slot fans may feel about this game. But I wouldn’t risk my resources to gamble on it, especially since I’ve experienced its earlier clones.
