How to play

Cauldron is a really well-designed and fun slot from Peter & Sons and it is easy to play. When the game starts up, you will be asked to choose your stake. The minimum is €0.20, while the maximum is €10. This doesn’t provide a huge amount of range. Once you have chosen that, you are good to get started. The big spin button under the reels will get the game going, while there is also an auto-spin option if you want to take a breather. 

All of the action takes place on a standard 5x3 grid, with the game offering 20 fixed paylines. A little bit of credit needs to be handed out here for how great it looks as well as how easy it plays. The animations on display are high quality and the game’s visuals really are a lot of fun. 

Symbols and payouts

As you might have gathered from the title of the slot, there is some foul play at hand in this game. All of the symbols on the reels are slightly twisted-looking versions of animals that have all been thrown into a cauldron by a wicked witch. 

The highest paying symbols here are the bonus potion and a wicked little rat. These two will both payout 50x your stake if you score five of them. The bonus does pay higher for 4x and 3x your total bet though, offering 10x and 2.5x respectively. Next up is a frog, which pays out 20x, a bat, and a spider which payout 12.5x and 10.5x respectively. Finally, the lowest symbol is a wasp. This pays out 9x for a combination of five. The lowest that can be won is 0.75x your bet for a combination of three wasps. 

The lowest paying symbols in the slot are the 5 fruit and vegetable symbols, awarding payouts from 6x to 5x the total stake, for landing 5 of them on a winning payline. 

Best Cauldron bonus feature

Peter & Sons has cooked up a good few Cauldron bonus treats for its players. The main bonus is the Cauldron free spins round. This is triggered by landing three or more scatter symbols on your reels. Three symbols will reward players with ten spins, which can be retriggered during the round itself. 

There are a few little nice extras thrown into the free spins round here to make it more exciting. If a player scores a winning combination with a high-paying symbol, then a multiplier is added to it. These will continue to add up if you keep landing winning combinations. Don’t despair if you land it with a low-paying symbol though, because if you do, the game removes them from the reels for the remainder of the round, providing you with more chances of scoring a big winner. 

Also, once you collect 750 Scatters during base play you unlock the Super Free Spins. Here there are no low paying symbols and all of the high paying ones come with win multipliers attached. 

RTP & volatility

The Cauldron RTP is 96.04%, which is fairly standard. The title is listed as high volatility. As such, players shouldn’t expect to see regular wins when spinning the reels. But, if they are willing to chase them, then rewards could be big when they do come along.
