How to play

This game has a setup that’s become standard for video slots. There are five reels, three lines, and 25 fixed paylines. You can adjust both your bet level and the denomination of your stake in order to change your total bet. The bet levels range from one to 40 – choose this value carefully, as the payouts in this game will depend on it. The minimum total wager is €0.25 per spin if your bet level is one.

A line bet of 40 generates a minimum bet of €10 per spin, while the maximum total wager is €100. This range offers flexibility to both new players on a modest budget and seasoned players who have the cash to spare. There are a couple of options for customization available. Symbols and payouts

There are limited symbols in this game, but they pack a punch. The main symbols are 9, 10, J, Q, K, and A. Each of these can show up as with a single symbol in one position or with two. This means that each of these symbols can create a payline with anywhere between three and 10 on a single payline. As most games only allow for five-of-a-kind wins, this is an obvious way to enjoy a wide range of prizes. The two special symbols are the scatter and the wild. The scatter is represented by an ornate clock and is responsible for triggering the Double 88 free spins feature. However, it doesn’t payout directly. 

The wild is, of course, a double 8. An 8 represents good fortune in some Asian cultures, and it certainly can be lucky here. The 88 will substitute for any symbol except the scatter, and it counts as a singular 9, 10, J, Q, K, or A. The wild can appear only on reels 2, 3, and 4 in the base game and feature. The biggest prize in the game is won when you play a maximum line bet of 40 and land 10 aces. Those 10 aces are worth 300  coins, for a win of 12,000 coins total. As the player sets the value of the coin, you could claim a prize up to €1,200 per spin.

Best Double 88 bonus feature

The best Double 88 bonus feature is the free games portion. To trigger your free spins, you’ll first need to collect three clock scatters. These symbols only appear on reels 1, 3, and 5 – they can land in any position, as long as there are three in view. You’ll receive 12 free games to begin with, but you can retrigger the free spins if you land an additional three scatters. During the feature, the 88 wild becomes even more valuable. If you have a win that involves J, Q, K, or A and you land a wild on the payline, your total win will be doubled. For example, a win with two K and a wild would count as six of a kind.

RTP & volatility

The Double 88 RTP has not been stated by August Gaming yet, and neither has the volatility. In our experience of playing 100 spins, we found that wins occurred on roughly half of those and were close in value to our wager. For that reason, we would judge this to be a slot with low volatility. The free spins feature was triggered twice, and in both cases paid out roughly ten times our initial bet.
