I remember testing the original Epic Treasure when it launched in 2021 with its quirky graphics, unenviable RTP rating, and interesting prize collection features.

At its heart, Epic Treasure is your average loot-hunting marine voyage where pirates risk life and limb to elude sunken monsters with as many jewels as they can carry.
I love the nod to Lovecraftian eldritch horrors, as the bonus symbol icon strikingly resembles the infamous Cthulhu. Weirdly enough, it fits the oceanic theme, but it’s a shame that its sole purpose is triggering the Free Spins round. Even without proper animations and cutscenes, Epic Treasure 2 is light years ahead of the original in terms of aesthetics.
Four pirate captains sail the high seas, searching for sapphires, emeralds, ambers, and rubies; they comprise the paying symbols in Epic Treasure 2 and are slightly more generous than I expected.
The “character” symbols may randomly carry instant prizes, and I love that the developers didn’t cut the payrates of each symbol to balance things out. Below is a short breakdown of Epic Treasure 2’s paytable:
The main reason I dubbed Epic Treasure 2 a “game for any budget” lies in its exceptionally diverse wagering range, which starts at €0.10 and ends at €2,000. Moreover, its max exposure is 5,000x, meaning that up to €10 million can be won with any spin or during the Free Spins round.
The bonus mechanics in this game can be defined as collectible prizes and boosters. Prolific pirates returning from successful plunders will often carry instant prizes, but they’ll need bags or chests to stash their loot. Storage is not an issue during the Bonus Round, as chests and coin bags will become sticky.
The only other special feature is the “Pick Me” bonus that precedes the Free Spins round, which is one of my favorite mechanisms of Epic Treasure 2.
Just like in the original Epic Treasure, all pirates (major symbols) have a chance of bringing collectible instant prizes along. The value of these instant wins spans from 1x to 100x of your current bet in the base game, and from 1x to 1,000x in the free spins round.
To bag these prizes, you’ll need to land coin bags or epic chests on the Collector Bar, which is the vertical reel on top of the playing field. Coin Bags will only collect prizes from adjacent reels while Epic Chests work globally.
The “Pick” Bonus will have you choose treasure chests before the Free Spins game begins. Nine options are available, and they’ll be assigned random prizes, which may include:
If you land at least 3 Scatter symbols, you’ll be taken to the aforementioned “Pick Bonus” and finally, the Free Spins round with all the modifiers you’ve previously earned.
One of the best things about Epic Treasure 2 is that scatters can appear in every position on the playing field (even multiple scatters can exist in the same column). Additionally, all collectors will become sticky once drawn.
This slot has 20 fixed paylines, and lining three identical symbols is the one of the two methods of winning. The second one refers to collectible prizes, which can be claimed for instant wins even if you don’t score a winning combination.
There are only eight symbols, the collectors don’t get in the way, and the grid is large enough to accommodate 3 scatters without breaking your chains. I wondered why MaxWin Gaming stated that the volatility rating of Epic Treasure 2 is high, and then I realized that this game doesn’t feature any Wilds.
The theoretical return-to-player score is 95.77%, and the generous bonus round is largely to blame for it. In my tests, I’ve seen so many free spins and wasted Bonus Buys that I’d rate it a bit lower.
Casually playing Epic Treasure 2 was fun, but I imagine playing it for real cash wouldn’t be as much for several reasons. Without Wilds as substitutes, it’s hard to score decent wins in the base game. The Pick bonus is a bit too random, and the Free Spins only affect collectibles.
I may give this game a chance but would never wager over €1 per spin if I played it in a real casino after drawing the Bomb multiple times in a row when I bought the bonus. You can demo Epic Treasure 2 for free with our link if you’d like to get familiar with its features.
