Gold Mine Mistress is a 20-line 5-reel video slot. You’ll automatically collect any gold nuggets appearing in the central reel to summon the Mistress Wild, which is one of the requirements (alongside the Apple) to initiate free spins. 

This game is played in 8-spin cycles, or “shifts” as Red Tiger dubs them. This is your deadline for collecting nuggets, as the Mistress Wild is guaranteed to appear on the 8th spin if at least one chunk of gold is in your bag. 

Symbols & Payouts

The Mistress oversees four dwarves (major symbols) as they dig for four rare crystals (mini symbols). All symbols pay in threes at the following rates: 

• Violet, Blue, Green, and Red Crystals: 0.4x for three-of-a-kind, 1.5x for four, 5x for five;
• Yellow-bearded Dwarf: 0.8x for three-of-a-kind, 2x for four, 10x for five;
• Gray-bearded Dwarf: 1x for three-of-a-kind, 2.5x for four, 15x for five;
• Red and Gold-bearded Dwarf: 2x for three-of-a-kind, 5x for four, 50x for five; 

Knowing that most Red Tiger games don’t have far-reaching betting options, I wasn’t too disappointed that this game accepts wagers as small as €0.20 to €4.

On the upside, the top win is as high as 20,000x, meaning that you can pocket up to €80,000 each round. 

Gold Mine Mistress Bonus Symbols

In this 5-reel slot, you’ll get to enjoy activating two bonus features - the flexible Mistress Wild and her guaranteed win spin, and the Free Spins round. Triggering these bonuses is a bit different than in regular slots, so I’ll briefly explain how to do it. 

Mistress Wild - Expanding Wild with Multipliers 

With any spin, golden nuggets may be drawn on the third reel. These symbols are collected for seven consecutive rounds, and if you’ve drawn at least one, the Mistress Wild will appear to give you a guaranteed win on the 8th spin. Your collection of nuggets and the work-shift counter is different for all bet sizes. 

The size and multiplier of Mistress Wild are determined by how many nuggets are collected. If it’s only one, she appears in only one position without a multiplier; if 2-3 nuggets are collected, she will remain a “small” wild with 2-3x multipliers.

Drawing 4+ nuggets transforms Mistress Wild into an Expanding Wild, covering the entire reel. She brings a 2x multiplier for 4 nuggets; x3 for 5 nuggets; x10 for 6 nuggets, and x50 if all 7 gold nuggets are collected.

Unlimited Free Spins

Two conditions must be fulfilled to activate the best feature of Gold Mine Mistress, the coveted “unlimited” free spins. Firstly, you’ll need to collect at least one gold nugget to summon the mistress on the central reel. Secondly, the Apple symbol, which can only appear on the 5th reel on every 8th spin, must also be drawn. 

When the bonus round starts, wild symbols may appear on any reel, with any multiplier, and in any size. The Apple will start in the same position as it was when the feature was triggered and will continue moving into random positions. The game ends when the Apple lands in the same position as any Wild symbol. 

How to Win at Gold Mine Mistress

Gold Mine Mistress features 20 fixed paylines, all symbols pay in threes, and the gold nuggets are automatically collected. If no nuggets are collected over the 8-spin shift and the last spin doesn’t result in a win, you will be awarded a free respin until a winning combination is achieved. 

Gold Mine Mistress Slot RTP & Volatility

The theoretical return-to-player score of Gold Mine Mistress is 95.74% while its volatility rating is “high”. I believe that the game “assumes” you’ll trigger the Bonus Round at least once during your gaming session since that’s where the biggest prizes lie. My tests have shown that the average returns for the base game are at least somewhat lower than advertised. 

Final Verdict

Gold Mine Mistress is in many ways different from your typical 5-reel slot, but it’s not necessarily better. Guaranteed wins and multipliers on every 8th spin set it apart from most games I recently tested, but I’d rather take my chances with wilds randomly appearing anywhere and at any time. 

The main reason why I'm hesitant to recommend this slot is that free spins, no matter how lucrative, are extremely hard to trigger. Moreover, you can’t buy this bonus, so it all boils down to how lucky and persistent you are.
