How to play

The Treasure Island slot has a familiar setup with five reels and three rows. There are 18 fixed paylines to gamble across and a range of bets to choose from. To set your total stake, you need to adjust two options. The first is for the value of your coins. This ranges from €0.05 to €1.00. Next, you’ll need to choose a step value bet one and five. This allows for a minimum stake €0.90 per spin and a maximum of €90.

There are several options for customizing play. You can click the frame menu and set Autoplay to run for 10 to 500 spins. Turn music and/or sound effects off as it suits you, or change the game speed between slow, normal and Turbospin. This video slot includes a Reelpot feature. A portion of wins from all players is collected into the Reelpot, which are represented by chests in this game. Higher bets give you a greater chance of unlocking the Reelpot for random wins.

Symbols and payouts

The normal symbols in this game include coins marked with 10, J, Q, K, and A. There’s also a pair of swords, a pirate flag, and a pistol. Payouts for these icons are all based on the step value you choose. The highest payline prize in the game occurs when you land five pistols on a payline, for a 1,000x win. The wild in this game is represented by a parrot and can stand-in for all the symbols listed above. It only appears on the middle reel. When it completes a win line for the swords, flag, or pistol, those prizes are automatically doubled.

There’s a scatter in this game in the shape of a flour sack. It doesn’t trigger any features, but it will pay up to 50x your total bet when you land three in any position. There are two bonus symbols – a cannon and a treasure chest – which we discuss in the next section. 

The best Treasure Island bonus feature

There are two bonus features available where players can win multipliers on their prizes. The Battleship bonus is triggered by a canon symbol, and the Treasure Hunt bonus is triggered by an ornate chest. You need to land three or more of the same bonus symbol on adjacent reels to trigger the bonus. They don’t have to fall on a payline. The number of bonus symbols will give you an initial multiplier to start the round with – 1x, 2x, or 3x, for three, four, or five symbols respectively.

After that, you’ll need to interact with the game to uncover additional prizes. Shoot down enemy ships in the Battleship round or choose your lucky Treasure Chests. These will reveal multipliers that add together for a maximum multiplier of 20x. These two rounds end with an opportunity to gamble your winnings in a double or nothing game. You can decline to participate or gamble it all up to five times in a row.

Finally, you earn Treasure Island free spins by landing three or more scrolls. The number of scrolls will dictate the number of spins you receive. Three scrolls award seven spins, four scrolls award 20 spins, and five scrolls award 50 spins. This feature can be retriggered.

RTP & volatility

The Treasure Island RTP is set to 94.38%. This is a little below the average for similar video slots, but probably won’t deter anyone who enjoys a good pirate-themed slot. Espresso Gaming hasn’t listed the volatility for this slot. Our best estimate would be that offers low to medium volatility. The wins we received were relatively frequent and moderately sized.
