How To Play Lightning Ball
This game is really easy to learn. If you’ve ever played a lottery, then you already have all the skills you’ll need. There are very few Lightning Ball rules, too. You buy your tickets, wait for the balls to be drawn, and hopefully, you’ll make some matches and win. That’s all it takes.
For those of you already making comparisons to Lightning Lotto, it’s true that things do look the same. But Evolution has woven in some interesting changes to this game. There are two ball-drawing machines. The first has numbers 1-30 inside. The second has 10 Powerballs. The first draw randomly picks 5 numbers, and the second will choose a sixth from the Powerballs.
In between these draws, the live dealer generates a Lightning Multiplier, which can be anything between 2x and 50x. If you match 2 numbers on your ticket, you will scoop a win, whereas Lightning Lotto requires 3. If you get a Powerball match and at least one regular number, then you’ll benefit from the Multiplier. Easy, right?
Place Your Bets!
You can place a bet from as little as €0.01 to a max of €100. I think this is an appealing range, especially if you don’t want to risk too much of your cash to begin with. Depending on which casino you are playing Lightning Ball online at, you may have higher limits.
It’s possible to buy a maximum of 200 tickets per game - phew! The interface is simple, though, and matching numbers are automatically highlighted.
Tickets can be purchased singly or as books of 10, 50 or 100. You won’t even need to select your numbers as the RNG does this automatically and fairly. You then choose the amount you’d like to play for each ticket, and then the countdown begins. Once this is over, you cannot change your selections, and the draws will begin.

Okay, let’s talk about the RTP. The optimal theoretical return here is 97.03%. For me, this gives Lightning Ball a definite advantage over Lightning Lotto, which, at best, gives 96.08%. Most live game shows tend to stick to 96% or lower.
So what are your chances at bagging the top prize of 6 numbers and the 50x Multiplier? Well, this varies depending on how many tickets you have purchased.
With 1 ticket, your chance is approximately one in 362 million. If you were to buy 200 tickets, then this is one in 9 thousand.
I appreciate these figures might be down-heartening, but if you want to formulate a Lightning Ball strategy, then this is crucial information. Let’s not forget that the main aim of any casino game is to have fun, too.

These are the real draw (excuse the pun) of the game and can be from 2-50x. This means that if you activate one with the winning number combo, your win will be boosted up to 50x.
The highest potential payout is a massive 49,999:1! This is also where you can bag the main prize of €500,000.
Lightning Ball Strategy: My Top 3 Tips
Despite the game being so simple, there are a few strategies that you can put into practice.
- Go in small
Whilst I cannot teach you how to win Lightning Ball, I can help you avoid burning through your bankroll within minutes. Whether you are a lotto gameshow pro or not, start with small bets. Get a feel for the layout, speed, and payouts before you commit more cash.
- To buy or not to buy more tickets?
If you buy more, your chances of winning will improve statistically —that’s a given. But if your budget doesn’t stretch to it, then don’t. Even if it does, 200 tickets in one game round is a heck of a lot! Lightning Ball Review: My Verdict
I think that this game is a nice next chapter in the Lightning series and it’s a great starter choice for new players. It is really simple and there are very few actions required by the player.
But is it enough to keep your attention? I think it’s one of those gameshows which is alright to begin your session with. Perhaps 10 rounds to get fired up and then I would probably move on to something else.
It’s difficult not to compare the game to Lightning Lotto as it looks and feels the same. There are also elements of Mega Ball combined here. Whilst the RTP of Lightning Ball is higher, you do get the chance of a 100x Multiplier in Mega Ball. Overall, it feels like a mishmash of these games with no redeeming features for me.
You can play 200 tickets at once, but on Lightning Lotto, you can play up to 500. But where’s the fun in such huge numbers anyway? It’s impossible to keep track of, and the game rounds are over so quickly that it removes some of the fun.
I’d also love to be able to choose my own numbers when it comes to any lotto game. Lightning Ball Live might hold more promise for me if I could use my first hamster's birth date. Or even my favorite footy player's shirt number. Yes, it’s 7 for Cristiano Ronaldo - but don’t hold that against me.
