Slots with WILD symbols
If you’re looking to play a slot with a wild symbol you can pick almost any slot you want. In fact, the overwhelming majority of slots, especially video slots, have this symbol. How a wild actually works in a slot can, however, differ from slot to slot, as some of them will replace all symbols, while others can only replace one symbol at a time. The only thing that is for certain is that a wild will always help you get more or bigger winning combinations in a slot, which means you’ll win more or more often while you play than what you would without it.

Perhaps NetEnt’s most successful slot of all time is the Gonzo’s Quest slot. This game was one of the first video slots made without spinning wheels; instead the symbols fall down in columns. This innovative feature, which nowadays is quite common in slots, allows for re-spins, or rather re-falls, so you can win time and time again in the same game round. Gonzo’s Quest also features multipliers that can get as high as x5 in the main game, while the bonus games, which are free spins, can give you...

Wilds replacing all normal symbols
In most slots, a wild symbol will replace all normal symbols, and it can replace several different symbols at the same time. The standard set-up for a slot is that you’ll need at least two or three symbols of the same kind on a pay line or as a winning combination to win. With the help of a wild symbol, you can, therefore, win with less than this, since the wild will replace the symbols you’re missing. If the wild symbol lands in a way that it can complete, or build on to, more winning combinations than just one in one single spin you’ll get more than one prize.
There are, however, also slots where the wild will not stay as a wild, but will actually turn into the symbol it’s supposed to replace. If this is the case for the slot you’re playing it will only replace the symbol, and be part of the winning combination, that yields the biggest win. So you might not get a win from several pay lines, instead, you’ll only get the most valuable one.
Even though a wild will be able to replace all normal symbols in a slot, it doesn’t always mean it can replace all symbols. The bonus symbols that can trigger other bonus games and features, such as free spins, are often excluded from the symbols the wild can replace. The same goes for any scatters. But there are exceptions to this so you can’t take it for granted in all slots you play with a wild.
Special wild bonus features
All video slots have some sort of bonus features that can give you greater chances to win, or bigger wins, and it’s quite common for a wild symbol to be a major part of these features. In addition to the traditional function of a wild, which is to behave as a sort of joker, many slots have also attributed other functions to this symbol.
In many slots all wins you get with a wild symbol will be multiplied with x2, x3 or even more, or you can get re-spins if the wild turns sticky, meaning it will stay in place for one more spin. Having wilds that can expand to cover a whole reel, or even move, is also common.
Walking wilds, falling wilds or expanding wilds is what many players are after because this means more chances to win plus greater chances of a win for each spin. Even though features like this can be a part of the main game in a video slot, it’s more common that you’ll find wilds with the best functions in the free spins game round, which is a common bonus game in slots.
Slots with special wilds
Divine Fortune features a falling wild. When you get a wild it will give re-spins while the wild falls one step further down the reel, and you keep on getting re-spins until there are no more wilds on any of the reels. If a wild symbol lands on top of another wild, the wild will expand to cover the whole reel before the three stacked wilds start falling again for more re-spins. In the free spins bonus game, all wilds automatically expand to cover the whole reel.
Jack and the Beanstalk is a video slot with a walking wild. The wild will give re-spins as it moves from right to left on the reels, and you’ll keep on getting re-spins until there are no more wilds left. All wins you get will also be multiplied with x3. In the free spins bonus round you’ll also be able to get stacked wilds or even an expanded wild that covers all reels.
Spinions Beach Party has sticky wilds if you get more than two at the same time. When this happens you’ll get a re-spin where the wilds stay in place, and if on that spin you get one or more wilds, those also become sticky and reward a new re-spin. This continues until you get a re-spin without any more wilds. Spinions free spins give ten spins for free, where all wilds become sticky for all the remaining spins.
