888 Stops Operations in New Jersey Ahead of Sports Illustrated Launch
888 is about to launch a new Sports Illustrated branded sportsbook in the state of New Jersey. As such, its 888 sports betting brand will stop accepting bets in the state ahead of the new launch.
A New Sports Illustrated Gambling Site To Launch
888 Holdings has had a lot of success in New Jersey. The operator first began providing its services through the 888sport brand back in 2018 when it first received its license. Since then it has earned itself a fine reputation as a top provider in the state.
The company announced that it had agreed to a deal to launch a brand-new Sports Illustrated branded sportsbook and casino in June 2021. Sports Illustrated is somewhat of an icon in American sports and the brand will no doubt prove to be a huge success.
New Jersey will not be the first state to receive the new brand. 888 has also recently signed deals to launch in Colorado, Indiana, and Iowa later in the year. Colorado was the first to launch the Sports Illustrated brand back in September 2021 and has so far seen great success. The company also confirmed in December that it has been granted a license in West Virginia and that it will launch the brand there.
A Fruitful Partnership
All of these deals have been made possible through an agreement between 888 and Authentic Brands. Authentic Brands bought Sports Illustrated for $110m back in 2019. The deal between ABG and 888 looks to be a promising one for both parties.
The importance of this partnership was highlighted by Yaniv Sherman, the Senior Vice President of 888. They said that they have created a strong opportunity for themselves to build on the platform provided by Sports Illustrated. They believe it will be a good chance to grow their customer base and that the move will prove cost-effective at boosting both brands.
