ComeOn Group Gets German Sports Betting License

ComeOn Group has just become richer for yet another license! Namely, the state of Sachsen-Anhalt has approved its business and added the operator to its list of licensed sports betting companies. Congrats to both ComeOn, and German sports fans! The brand will operate three websites:,, and

Curse Disguised as a Blessing?

The German gaming license is not the only one ComeOn holds. In April this year, it was green-lighted by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, thus expanding its footprint to the New World.

Still, that doesn’t make the company’s German license any less important. It is the operator’s first entrance into the German gaming scene after the Fourth State Treaty (GlüNeuRStV) came to power. As of July 1st, 2021, the majority of online games have been legalized. According to the previous legislation, the so-called Third State Treaty, only sports betting was allowed.

But is this license a whole bunch of problems disguised as a blessing? Licensees are obliged to follow a strict set of rules. For instance, the maximum stake on slots is only €1. Not an amount that will impress high rollers. The €1,000 loss limit applies to all customers, regardless of their status or experience. In terms of sports betting, punters face restrictions regarding the types of bets they can place on live games. Only total goals scored and match winner markets are allowed.

With that in mind, it is not surprising that Kindred decided to pull out of the German market. The withdrawal will become effective from 1 July. The Maltese gaming giant published a statement saying operating conditions imposed are simply too demanding. Kindred is not the only one unhappy with German policies. 33 other sports betting operators joined hands in a lawsuit against operating conditions. President of the German Sports Betting Association (DSWV), Mathias Dahms, has made his stance clear. He warned the authorities that the in-play restrictions might force players to find their luck on the black market.
