Hacksaw Gaming became the latest game developer to operate in Spain. This is after the studio received an operating license from the country’s gambling regulator. The license approval is a major boost for the company as it seeks to expand its reach in the European market.
The Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) issued Hacksaw Gaming an operating license allowing it to offer its games in the Spanish market. This means gamblers in the country can now look forward to the studio’s portfolio.
But the company is set to launch only 20 slot games in the first round. This will be around mid-December. Some of the titles slot lovers can expect to come across include Stack ‘Em, Chaos Crew, and Wanted Dead or a Wild.
Marcus Cordes commented on the latest milestone by the company. The Hacksaw Gaming COO said entering the Spanish market is the perfect ending to a year. Cordes said Spain has always been a target for the company. And it’s delighting to offer its products in another regulated jurisdiction in Europe.
Cordes further stated 2021 brought plenty of excitement occasioned by milestones. They hoped the trend will continue into 2022 and beyond. The COO also expressed their hope about players enjoying the first round of games as the company prepares to launch more titles in quarter one of 2022.
The license acquisition to operate in Spain comes at the back of a recent partnership sealed in September this year. Hacksaw signed a partnership deal with Flutter Entertainment. This saw it launch its products across various brands owned by the group through Relax Gaming, which is the company’s aggregation partner. These are Betfair and Paddy Power.
This partnership came after Hacksaw received a license from the Hellenic Gaming Commission to offer its games in the Greek market. The game supplier also expanded its reach in the Swedish market after sealing a deal with Svenska Spel Sports and Casino. This partnership sailed through the courtesy of a partnership with OpenGaming Platform.
Before the Swedish deal, the game studio announced it received a license to start operations in Denmark. Hacksaw Gaming is already live in several other jurisdictions across Europe. They include Latvia and Sweden.
Hacksaw Gaming started operations in 2018 with Marcus Cordes as its COO. Cordes was formerly from Multilotto, which means plenty of previous experience in the industry to lead the company. The game studio started by developing scratchcard games but it eventually diversified its portfolio by developing slots. A year after starting operations, the company received licenses from the UKGC and MGA.
