Scientific Games Extends Deal With SCML in Portugal
Scientific Games has signed a new deal with one of its long-term partners. The company will become the primary source of instant-win titles for Portugal’s Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa national lottery.
A Lucrative Deal For Scientific Games
The new deal will last for three years and will see Scientific providing its catalog of instant win-titles to the SCML. This is a lucrative deal to secure, with the SCML being the fourth biggest operator for instant games in Europe.
Scientific Games has cemented its place as one of the top suppliers on the continent with this move. This now means that it supplies instant games to all the four best lottery providers in Europe, giving it a significant influence in the market. It also supplies 90% of the ten best lottery providers worldwide.
John Shulz, the SVP of Scientific Games, spoke about this success. He also expressed how excited the company was to expand its partnership with SCML. The charitable side of the lottery was referenced, and Shulz said that he was happy his company was a part of that.
A Long Relationship
The partnership between SCML and Scientific Games spans back 25 years. SCML credited instant games for a lot of its success in that time period. The lottery was launched back in 1995, which means Scientific Games has worked with it for the majority of its lifetime.
Edmundo Martinho, who is in charge of the lottery organization, recognized the long-lasting relationship between the two parties when discussing the deal. He addressed how the long history between the two has provided a great foundation for SCML to continue to grow. He also discussed the importance of the lottery for charitable causes in Portugal.
As well as the SCML, Scientific Games also provides its products to 48 other national lotteries. This includes lotteries in Italy and France, as well as the National Lottery in the UK. It is not just Europe that the company focuses on though. Recently, it extended an ongoing deal with Loto-Quebec.
